2025 Recruitment And Retention

It is now clear the story about the Bulldogs pulling out of negotiations with May was simply they were outbid by the Tigers. Tigers have overpaid for a player with a very questionable attitude in particular when it comes to training. So he'll fit right in. Expect him to slide to a bog average grade player before too long.

This youtube clip talks about the young Francis Manuleleua from about 4.50 seconds in.

It's an incredible junior record - 1st 15 for a top school for 4 years - number 6 for warriors juniors 2 years young - Flegg for Panthers years young.

He has grown from halfback sized to 190cm and 110kg and his Penrith reserve grade profile says he has had one game as 18th man.

Looking at his Flegg appearances for Penrith, only a handful were starting at second row, most were number 17 and some weeks he wasn't picked.

It sounds like he grew too big for the halves and he spent last year learning to play second row.

He is young enough to play Flegg for another year.

His attitude is questionable, his ability is not played massive minutes for the Roosters at times and his motor was huge, didn't slow down.

At least this rules out the tiggers hopefully.

I mean, it'll need to be a 3 or 4 year deal to compete with our deal as we've got an extra year in which we can pad up his earnings and we'd have at least 650k on the table for him.

Another club would need to make up the difference by adding a year or two with slightly higher annual earnings over that contract period.

Unless it’s Penrith.

would I be off my head to think that we should make a move for Cheese, if we can get him for 300-400k with roosters paying the rest, Release Brailey if parra will pay the full 650-700k and use that free cash to give more to Leo for this upcoming season to help entice him to re-sign. Move Phoenix to 9 and Cheese at 14??

Anyone listen to the Bloke podcast segment about Leo and Brailey? Geez they hate us.

"What would KP be thinking, they lost Dsaf and NSW young gun (Max Bradbury) a few seasons ago". Even brings up Mitch Barnett. Easy to say in hindsight. You could name players from every team that left and became a better player years ago.

I've hardly heard much of Bradbury since he left us.

Bradbury was fantastic for us in Mathews - possibly our best Mathews forward ever - but he got a serious injury in the local comp and came back half the player, and since going to Cronulla he's had injury after injury

Was good business for us and Barnett for him to move on. Same with DSaf hope he kills it as well.

Max Bradbury though? What Billy said above.

My first thought is it would be a multi year deal and do we really want to pay the $800k he'd be after to play 14.
