Anyone seen the vlogs Kalyn has started posting over pre-season? Looks like he and Will Pryce are now as joined at the hip as he and Connor were.

Completely agree but to say it every year and dish up sub standard performance’s scrap in 8 and go out week 1 and repeat, it gets embarrassing, if they said it every year and you could physically see vast improvement that would be fine but so far it’s more all bark no bite type of stuff, imo.
Maybe I’m being to harsh though at least we do make the 8 it could be a lot worse.
I don’t remember them saying it last year, and to be fair, they did all seem extremely unfit to start the year lol.
i think most years of late we have seemed unfitter than most of the rest of the comp, especially our forwards.
2022 when AOB ran the pre-season we were really good though.
Maybe we need his micromanagement on that again then.

Very good. No Pezet means Will has to be in the team for mine & we need to see if there's a genuine first grade 6 in there. Need the x factor and the running threat in the spine. Gamble, Jacko & Cogger all a bit redundant playing with each other & when you add in Elliott & Brailey we comfortably have more than enough "steer the team around the park" guys. The fact that everybody in the team (except maybe Jacko) clearly ****ing loves the bloke surely helps him get into the team. Camaraderie is a real competitive edge in this sport.
I'd rather suffer some poor results in the short term and see if someone with legit star potential can figure it out than continue to rely on workmanlike halves combos who put too much pressure on Kalyn to create all the points.
I don't think he even needs to be a superstar. Look at Brooksy at Manly this season. Didn't outgrow his issues (eg his weird errors, inability to impose himself on the game, etc), but I legitimately think he helped Manly's attack a lot (remember Tommy Turbo played gimped all year) just by being a genuine running threat & a decent ball player in shape. It opened up the field for them heaps. A $6-700K half who's actually worth more or less exactly that. If we can get that out of Prycey it would help Kalyn heaps.

From memory they don't normally say they believe they're in for a shot at the premiership... Usually the focus is making the top 4 lol

Wasn't even top 4 in 2023 iirc. Remember players saying they'd hope to make the 8.

Yeah I think you're right. It's actually nice to hear they have a bit of belief they can do something more (even if it does seem very unrealistic)

That will be something I guess, he has been phoning it in for the last 2.5 years and only started to put in some effort after he was tapped on the shoulder in round 20 last year.
I wonder how long it will be before he starts the phone in stuff at the phins.
Or maybe he will start having a go there?

I wasn't sure why Pryce was dropped after two games last year. Didn't we win one or both of them and he wasn't awful?
Anyway AOB has to think out of the box. we can't expect to scrape into the 8 with a -ve for & against and one of the worst (if not the worst) attacking records in the comp. As it was the Dragons choking and Bennett bizarrely dropping Katoa did us a huge favour.

Made a few shocking plays in the Raiders game, though it was in a win. His other 2 games at five-eighth I wouldn't say he was noticeably good or bad, he was just kind of there.
