2025 pre season thread

I think he's mostly played 6, but they'd be silly not to ask him to have a go at 7 this year. Decent number of the elite 7's in the comp are guys who were thought of as 6's (or even fullbacks) coming through & build their game around their physical tools rather than fitting the traditional idea of what a #7 is, eg Moses, Hughes, Nicho.

Will be an interesting call for Obi and staff.

2025 season give Pryce the shot with either Cogs or Hastings knowing Hastings probably going to be released.

Pryce potentially won't be resigned because of Linnane's potential and also his price tag (unless he wants to stay for about the same)

So do they go Pryce start of season to round 13 and depending on how he's going and Linnane go do a swap? Or go if Pryce going well leave him there?

Opperation Linnane 2026 with a new 7? (TMM, Fogarty just my thoughts) and then are we finally looking at stability on halves for long term?

Either way I still don't think we have long term stability in the halves until 2026, but also doesnt mean we still have a red hot crack with who we have until then!

We should not throw Linnane to the wolves next year. I would not be opposed to 1 game to let him see what level he needs to get to. But expecting a young kid to come in and swim with the big boys would be wrong. Look at how good it was for Cogger and Lamb.

I was surprised to see how many good kicks and try assists Linnane did in his 2023 highlights package.
There was still plenty of taking the line on and making line breaks and scoring tries, but he was doing a lot more in 2023.
He'll probably start at 6 in Flegg this year and work on his skills for a while.

I was thinking that he'd be moved to 7 in Flegg/Cup rather than fast tracked into firsts during 2025.

I think this shows what I mean. More than half of the video is from the great run of form he had to end the season where he’s popping up on the left more. The right to left pass looks a lot more natural for him (as it does for most players).

Certainly looks good, but can he put together an 80 minute game in first and handle the defence.
