I wouldn’t say that! Amazing achievement. Australia’s only done it once but the kiwis have down it plenty of times. New York yaught club every other time pretty much lol

I think it didn't help with the publicity here that nobody wanted to stump up the money to host it, so it was over in Spain.
 
The ball is spinning but not a long way, the pitch is playable. Khan is bowling very well and Pope, Brook and Stokes played loose shots. Khan was too good for Root. Duckett got one that kept very low.
 
Smith and Atkinson were scoring boundaries regularly with good cricket shots. Both were playing well. They were not playing the sweep shot.

3 batsmen got out earlier sweeping.

Then Atkinson got out. Still an excellent fightback.
 
Smith played the slog-sweep for the first time and skied it, out for 91.

It was an impressive innings.
 
Kiwis went from 3/197 to all out 259.

Washington Sundar was very impressive and he just scored a first class century.
 
I don’t think England got enough runs. The Pakistani batsmen will literally be at home in these conditions.
 
England have fought back to have Pakistan 3/46. I thought Ayub’s dismissal was soft and the other 2 Pakistani’s dismissed played across the line of the ball.
 
India and NZ are evenly poised after day 1.

England have an advantage over Pakistan after taking 3 wickets but I would be wary of Pakistan batting at home.

“Day one PitchViz rating of 6.8 makes this the toughest pitch to bat on day one in any Test in Pakistan.”

The grounds men were applying heaters to the pitch to dry it out days before the game. It’s gonna continue to turn and break up over the coming days. England’s total was pretty decent all in all and Pakistan will need to bat last which will be no mean feat regardless.

The pitch will be reasonable for batting today but will definitely deteriorate as the match progresses.

We will have to wait until Pakistan have finish batting to know were we stand but it was a decent total by England.
 
103 run lead for NZ on the first innings as India collapse to 156 all out ... big second innings coming up!
 
Excellent performance by the Kiwis today bowling India out for 156 to lead on the first innings by 103 runs. Some reckless batting by India. But still very nice of the Kiwis to soften India up before they travel to Australia. 🤣

Meanwhile the Pakistanis can only blame themselves and some good bowling by England for being 7/177. The pitch has settled down a bit today, while it’s spinning it’s good for batting.

As much as it pains me to see England behind on the scoreboard, the turnaround in momentum from Pakistan is why we love Test cricket.

Now hopefully England can wrestle back control….
