Totally agree how can a non Knights fan know so much about how we play but most of the fans on here think we will be fine without him 🤷

Interesting point with the speed of the game. Klem gets all those post contact meters. Averages alot of meters a game. But maybe it's actually a bit detrimental. Those few extra meters he walks maybe gives time for the other defenders to set there line, rather than trying to get a quick play the ball.

I like Leo Tompson, solid nugget with good leg speed. Another pre-season in here he'll be better for it. I think he will be a gun for us.

I think if off-loading Klem in a player swap with Brooks then out of the two I would rather Brooks.
 
I read this morning that the Tigers have said it is absolutely not a player swap for Brooks or anyone else .

Most of our long range tries usually come off a klemmer run...
 
One thing with Klemmer too which concerned me this season was his ongoing knee issues, he played through the pain but the amount of times he had a to pass a last minute fitness test was concerning. Big forwards, with limited mobility and shot knees are not something you want on your books.

Tigers can posture all they want but Brooks and Douhei are heading elsewhere, both can sign with anyone from November 1 and if they wanted to stay at the tigers they would have signed a new deal by now.

Aside from example what leadership qualities does Klemmer have? Hardly inspired his pack mates Dan and Jacob to any great heights?
 
Klemmer isn't a leader. He is a softly spoken shy bloke who gets the job done every week.

But he isn't in huddles laying down the law, he isn't yelling at blokes on filed to do their job or where to be. He just goes about his business.

If we are looking to move in to a fast playing style of footy not letting the opposition defence rest, kind of like the Panthers, we have a hell of a lot of work to do across the park! Letter Klem go and singing a more mobile forward or 2 won't change that.

True, they both lead by example but the difference here is JT is mobile for a big dude and can play the ball fast after making metres. JT suits the modern game much more than Klem.
 
So it looks like we are going to offload Klem because we are paying him too much for next year but we don’t have anyone else to sign with the money we are saving.
 
Only thing I can think of is that in losing Klemmer to the Tigers, they could then swoop in and snatch Nathan Brown off them (Parra lock forward, not the coach). There’ve been rumours that the Tigers are keen to take him on, and the Eels say he’s free to explore his options for next year, but there’s a lot of haggling over salaries and freight and all that going on.

Brown is much more of that modern style of middle forward, more mobile and a good ball player… or at least he was a couple years ago when he was still in his prime. As it stands he’ll turn 30 just before the first ball is kicked next year.

It’d free up cap space because he’s much less expensive than Klemmer, it’d give us (on paper at least) the kind of forward the club wants to try and add, and it saddles us with a declining player on the wrong side of 30 for, most likely, at least 2 years.

Honestly surprised it hasn’t already happened. It’d be a very Newcastle move.
