2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Your free to give up at any time.

I never will no matter how long they continue to be uncompetitive.

True supporters never give up on their team no matter how badly they play and no matter how long it continues.

I will always treasure our 2 premiership wins until I the day die. The day of the 1997 premiership win is one of the very best days of my life and always will be.

I was speaking to a Wests Tigers supporter a few years ago and he said he was happy the Tigers had one the NRL premiership in 2005 and he did not expect them to win it again but he said would always follow them.

I get we've just had a terrible season but this is a ridiculous claim, think some of the trauma might be starting to wash off too soon.
Those years were rough but at least we had a reason with all the blooding of kids. This year is its own special kind of hell where we had made consecutive finals and were finally supposed to be on the right track, but retreated back to wooden spoon level.

I’m with you mate.

The 1 win season was inexcusable and worse than anything AOB has dished up.

To those who respond to this by just pointing to the roster - go have a look at the players on it. Then have a look at some of the playing rosters the Bulldogs had over 2020-21.

Was ours really worse than theirs?

I keep hearing stuff about all these kids Browny blooded during his time with us too… sorry which kids were those? Who was there in 2016 who’s still around now, and which young players improved during his time with us?

Did he really help us develop players or did he simply gut the roster & then replace those players with a new collection of older established first graders? (And Kalyn Ponga but he had to have his arm twisted to sign him)

O'Brien is much better than Brown at bringing kids into firstgrade.
Brown actually had a better crop to work with - Tinkler's money had given us a bunch of imports that won a minor premiership in Flegg and a grandfinal win in reserve grade the next year. Brown used about 10 of them in firstgrade and ruined most of them by playing them out of position and throwing them on the scrapheap after 3 games in a position they've never played before.

O'brien brings kids into firstgrade very slowly and prepares them well before throwing them in.
