2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

yeh he's looked good to me. In NSW cup its hard to look like a super star unless youre a freak athlete which Gamble is not. But his passing, kicking and defense have all be solid. There's not a lot of threat on his outside to really give him a chance to show is ball playing.

It's ok, I also earnestly hope that the knights can be competitive, possibly even win, every game too. I foolishly back my heart every week in relation to footy.
Me too i've never picked against them in the footy tipping , probably a big part of the reason i've never come close to winning it lol .. I don't care though because i just can't pick against them .

Haven’t watched the game yet, will this week, but didn’t Gamble win man of the match? Couldn’t have played that badly…

Either way, he’s not coming to Newy for a guaranteed jersey, he’s coming because he’ll be given the chance to fight for one. Couldn’t be more clear from the way the signing was announced. I don’t think there’s any point in stressing about the level of his performance.

It’s Clifford causing me stress. He’s the one the club actually invested a fair whack of cap space in and handed a jersey from day dot. And when Brooks arrives, I’ll be stressing about him.

If we end up with both Clifford and Brooks on the books next year and Gamble is the first picked every week, it’s not Tyson I’ll be criticising. He’d be there because he wants it more.

Clifford is central to our chances to go ok to well in 2023, if he stays and performs close to his best we will be ok even if his half’s partner is Clune, Crossland, Gamble or Brooks. If he leaves, gets punted, our chances then depend on getting someone, slim pickings, as good or better as any two of the other four are not so good, Brooks the likely best but we don’t have him, yet.
Can only see Ponga in half’s if we get a f/b, I mean a real one, not confident in Hodgson he will need a good few games in Cup injury free before being seriously considered, so that means the likes of Garrick who is a plus with goal kicking
Bottom line, need a happy playing well Clifford and for Ponga to 5/8 we need Garrick then Brooks would be a bonus but not so needed.

I heard the ABC commentary teams analysis of our season yesterday. Basically said we look lost on the field and disorganised. They can't see any improvement for next year.

They could be right. It would be more of a surprise to everyone I would say if we made the finals next year.
