2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Oh my ****ing God. You are kidding me.

The club has a long term addiction to guys who shout a lot and make a big show of how hard they’re trying but make almost no contribution to winning football, and now they’re looking to sign the absolute patron saint of that kind of player. Get absolutely ****ed.

Absolutely no idea at this club, totally redundant player unless we are looking to get rid of Kurt Mann. Joey froths him in comms. He’s having more of a say in our recruitment than he’s letting on I think.
Certainly wouldn't have been my first choice (I maintain Hastings is) but you're talking as if our current squad for next year has halves that make a contribution to winning football.

We don't, as has been rather brutally exposed this season. We also only have 2 halves on the books for next season so we need more.

Personally I'd rather watch Gamble rip in than suffer through Clifford pretending to tackle and dissapearing from our attack when things become difficult for yet another season. The suggestion isn't that Gamble turns us into a top 4 contender, but rather when faced with a decision between two unexceptional players picking the one that brings some form of heart and competitiveness is the preferred option.

2022 stats:
Clifford: 12 games, 2 tries, 2 try assists, 4 forced dropouts, 3 LBAs
Gamble: 8 games (6 in halves, 2 off bench), 0 tries, 4 try assists, 3 forced dropouts, 7 LBAs

Just frustrating that we’ve heard all this chat about how they’ve been working behind the scenes to solve the halves crisis, and this is what they’ve come up with 😂

Gamble. This club disgusts me.

I sincerely have little want to watch us play tomorrow. What's the point? Moorishly predicable, it's pathetic. And the only chance we have of winning relies on Canberra utterly disrespecting us by not even having a go.

I'd be happy with Gamble for 150k.
He's a prospect who could develop a lot.
Not the big name we need, but someone who could have a breakout year.
Some aspects of his play are very exciting.

Where did you read this?
A pretty reliable instagram page.

They stated that this had been sent to them by one of their followers with not a lot of substance.

Apparently Ponga has been training at 5/8 the past few weeks.

Garrick has been thrown up as an option as he would be cheap and is also an excellent goal kicker, something the team needs.

I’ve liked Garrick at fullback he gains heaps of metres and has plenty of speed.

Good to see Ponga backing Obrien and agreeing to move if it benefits the team.

Gamble for 1 year I'd cop if it meant we weren't getting Brooks on a long term deal
This, I would rather go for a slightly better fringe player for a 1 year deal and hold off for hopefully a better option than go in for a big 3 year deal for Brooks.
