2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

The Hastings aspect is very weird to me from the Tigers’ point of view

I sort of understand it, he's not a world beater and his style of game wouldn't excite someone like Benji.

But if their back up plan is currently "no one", well that's something the Knights tried this year and they at least had a Clune level backup.

Benji watching Jackson try hard for the full 80 minutes: “Wait what the **** is this. What is he doing. This looks very tiring.”

Like I said earlier, I honestly think Baz isn’t getting the scoops he used to get, this whole Brooks thing is the one story he has hung onto for the entire year…. Yes we wanted him in the pre-season but after he played poorly, we shifted our focus to Hastings as stated by many websites. I don’t believe that we aren’t chasing Hastings.
His son got moved on last year is why

Hastings at lock and get rid of Mann, or swap him to the tiges.
Brooks at half to partner Cliff, Pong at the back doing his thing.

Could work. Would certainly work better than what we have now.

Won't happen.

Most likely Brooks at 7, Mann at lock, Cliff at 5/8.

I never have really wanted Brooks at Newcastle but I am sure he will be a much better player at his next club. He has obviously contributed to it but the amount of turmoil at the club is ridiculous at they generally run out each week with the worst 17 in the competition. I think he’ll look much better at a new club just don’t want that new club to be us haha

Brooks going from the Tigers to us is a lateral move. One club unable to pull themselves out of the mud, to the club stuck right in the mud next to them.

I can't see how Brooks coming here is going to be good for him, and the right environment for him to thrive.

“The Wests Tigers roster could be set for an overhaul over the summer. Jackson Hastings’ future at the club isn’t guaranteed.

There are a number of people at the club who don’t believe he is a good influence on the team despite the image he portrays in the media for the fans. He has become a cult hero, but the view is different among most internally.

The Knights had discussed a potential play for his services. Inquiries were also made with the Bulldogs but it is not expected Hastings will end up at Belmore.

It’s not the last we’ve heard about Hastings. Nor Luke Brooks for that matter.”
