2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Just quietly it wouldn’t be the worst thing if next year was his last at the club though, unless he was willing to take a pretty fair pay cut to stay.

Would be interested to know if we are looking at a play for moses, managed by AOBs management aswell. he would be my pick out of the three listed.

Definitely Moses is the best of the three. Not the absolute top tier of #7’s IMO, but he’s become way more consistent than I ever expected. I think he has a player option for 2024 and if I’m him I’m keeping my options open into next year because I reckon that Eels side is right on the verge of going to ****.

Thanks for the insight mate. Where would you say Huddersfield need more depth? There’s definitely a couple of young forwards who haven’t performed in the NRL who might do better in England in our top 30, and I’m sure most of us on here would jump for joy if we could swap Kurt Mann for Will 😂

My understanding is that Luke Yates has done very well for Huddersfield after struggling for the Knights in the NRL so they might have an appetite for more Knights fringe forwards?
Their biggest squad issue at the moment is they have lots of their starting 13 as blokes who are on the wrong side of 30 and a few pushing toward 35 so over the next couple of years they'll definitely be looking to at transitioning these parts of the squad.

Position-wise they'd be looking at props and outside backs and I'm sure if the right option popped up they'd jump at it, their coach is very good and punches above his weight with respect to the cost of his squads. Definitely one who likes the younger bloke who hasn't kicked on at NRL level but comes over with something to prove as opposed to a 'big-name", he had Hastings, Yates and Lolohea at Salford with the two latter following him to Huddersfield.

Eli Katoa given permission to negotiate with other clubs. Instead of us getting him in a swap for Barnett, watch him go to Melbourne on the cheap and become a rep back rower.
Yep was just about to post about this. I would love for us to pick him up, he has so much potential and wouldn’t be too expensive. Storm, Raiders and Dolphins are reportedly chasing him, I hope we are as well.

A call is coming in, a club is looking to unload a player. It it’s the Storm? Don’t answer. Block the number. But if it’s the Warriors, pick up.

So we have 6 positions to fill.
And I expect us to get both KPP and Pryce early so we have 4 to sign…
Signed.
