2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

He has played hooker and goes pretty good, his kicking will be a massive asset.
He might actually be an asset if he can convert a try. We seem to have no dramas scoring this year but the lack of conversions is kicking our arse. In saying that, is he Tigers goal kicker? I haven’t watched one of their games since the Knights played them and I can’t remember if he had a crack or not or if he is even decent if he is…

He can kick goals....but when I said that his kicking will be an asset I was referring to in general play and especially if he was kicking from 9.

He always should have either been a hooker, or a true second banana half in the style of Luke Keary or Dylan Brown. Has never had the instincts or the ability to read the game necessary to be the dominant #7 the Tigers just expected him to become because he kind of looks like Joey Johns if you squint.

I always thought Brooks would make a good 6 in that role a second playmaker rather than a game managing halfback like Cleary, DCE, Reynolds or even Hastings.

Maybe the Raiders would be a good fit for him with Wighton going to Souths.

I saw a short clip on Facebook of Matty Johns talking (not sure if podcast or for radio). He was still banging on about Luke Brooks to Newcastle. His tip is either Bulldogs or Knights and that both teams need him. Is he playing with himself or what?
I respect Marty, but hope this is a “one too many hits to the head” moment.

Brooks knocked back 1.1mil over two years from the Tigers.
Are we willing to pay him more to play 9 or 14?
I really hope Brooks is leaving because he needs a change. If he is leaving because the Tigers offered $1.1m for 2 years and he thinks that under-values him, he is dreaming.
A fair price for him would be $300-$350 per season, based on his performance in the past.

You forget that under the CBA, every club MUST spend atleast 95% of the cap. So with 1 spot left on the roster, why would we have heaps of cash laying around?

The CBA leads to clubs having to overpay for players to meet that target
I’d say 95% of people who comment about the cap either don’t know or choose to ignore this fact.
