2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Fair enough, had only found the original article on the Knights site about a 2 year extension so I mustn’t have searched hard enough.
You might be right.
That site used to be the most reliable source for contract information, but I've noticed they have been pretty sloppy since covid.

Article where Jack Hetherington's father says he has no input into or knowledge of where Jack will sign, but says it would be easier for him personally if Jack signed for Newcastle, so he didn't have to travel to Sydney to see him play. Jack's father lives in Belmont.

His father is Brett Hetherington who played for the Raiders and Cowboys. Brett had the Gunyah Hotel for many years. His uncle is Brett Mullins who also resides here in Newy. So most of his family is here and apparently his partner is from Newy as well.

If Milford stays, we need a game managing 7.

Milf is a 6, the club is looking to move Ponga to 6 and was about to debut Hodgson at 1, Clifford hasnt shown he is what we need at 7 and likely best as a 6.

Really need an established 7 to come in and run the show.

Im starting to think that will end up being Luke Brooks.

Probably not a popular take but I think let Milf go and concentrate on securing a quality 7.

With the Tools Clifford has already it wouldn’t be a stretch to say with time he would suit the 7 role.
And with the 8th immortal to guide him I have even greater faith.
i think your spot on. He’s still only 64 games into his NRL career as well and has shown potential to be an excellent player. Unfortunately he’s also had unfathomably bad games but it really is the Knights best hope in the short-medium term of answering the number 7 issue.

They want to extend the milf because he's the only legit halves talent we'd have a shot at signing for 2023 or 2024.

The halves off-contract list for those years is a bunch of scrubs you wouldn't feed or pie in the sky options like Munster or Sam Walker.

If Clifford doesn’t reach the heights I believe he will reach over the next 12 weeks.
———> We should go all out for Hastings, he was very close to Madge and is probably disappointed that he got sacked. He may want to request a release for the right money…

Barnett signed with them because they offered him the most money and security, nothing changes on that front. Doubt he was uprooting his young family to another country just to play for the coach who's built a career off losing games.

I remember Joey playing some bad games early in his career. He went surfing in the Philippines at the end of the 1996 season and thought long and hard about his form.

I'd be very happy on Hastings.

Gus said the other day if Madge gets sacked there are about 6 players ready to walk with him.

I really rate Eliese Katoa from the Warriors, he isn’t getting any game time but is only young and I think he and Hetherington could be great straight up replacements for Barnett (Warriors) and Fitzy (NSW Cup) so we could have a back row of 11. Hetherington 12. Katoa

Edit: lol I completely forgot about Friz... our backrow could be 11. Frizell 12. Katoa/Hetherington and have one of Katoa/Hetherington on the bench.
pretty good rotation imo.
