2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

He goes sideways a lot. Scary against NRL defences. Great offload but needs guys around him to make use of it. We **** at getting people around a ball.
I see the same thing. He'd get wrapped up and driven in the NRL. He's a lanky kid with a heap of talent. But he needs to be able to march forward and carry defenders post contact, win those battles often enough to then start getting an arm free to offload. He'll have no time or space in the NRL. They'll fold that frame too. He's almost too tall.

Hes a talented project player. Not a starter by any means. But obviously super super high ceiling.

Yeah that’s it. At his height and with that build I want to see footage of him running it hard and direct and bursting through tackles. The thing which made Sonny Bill’s offloads so deadly is was the hard straight run preceding him getting that arm free and releasing the ball. If you didn’t commit multiple bodies he’d trample you, if you did he was so hard to wrap up. That made him a pick your poison prospect for defenders - no good way to totally contain him and erase his impact.

If KPP comes into the NRL and plays that laterally he might have a lot of trouble and get monstered by opposing back rowers unless he’s an absolute unicorn of a player the normal rules don’t apply to.

He will certainly need to fine tune it, but alot of it is late footwork that gets him on the outside and then he draws in the next defender with lateral movement and pops the ball to his centre when they engage. Interesting watching him play on the left a lot more this year and he plays more direct and offloads after contact.

Interesting skillset.
If he has a decent size motor and can tackle, he has the size and skills to be the ball-playing lock forward we are looking for.

I'll be happy to reserve judgement on both Pryce and KPP until they have played more than 20 games for us

I'm more excited for Pryce. Those highlights are him as an 18 year old. Big athletic frame. Can play anywhere from 1-6. Is already doing things that most NRL players aren't capable of

@HarVeeGee13 here’s the knights chance. Still Not sure he’s a 7. But confess I haven’t seen him control a game much.

I’d be devastated if Clifford leaves. Really wanted to see him have a wonderful career with knights.

But if he does, all we should be go pushing on recruiting is getting Munster, or forking the $$ to convince Hunt or Moses to break contract year early.

Sounds like Lodge just got released from the Warriors although it does say where he is going, do we want to have another crack? 😂

Don’t need Lodge, have enough quality middles, besides I’m not sure he would be welcome considering his past. We have more urgent needs in other positions.
