2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Hetherington a solid back up fwd. can give us a chance to give eo a rest in Reggies when needed. Matt Croker deserves to stay in 17.

Have to be cheap though, with Milf signed he'd use the final $300,000 and obviously heavily weighed on game time, not sideline time

I think i'd take him over Elliot. But not disappointed in either at the low cost.

If the dogs are all bailing post Barrett leaving can Burton be convinced to come here. Naden got out of there within 24 hrs and is playing for the Tigers this weekend (against the Dogs).

We need a half, not another running 5/8.

Munster, Hunt. Dolphins and Dogs will be forking out for a number 7. Thats who we're up against. Like to think we can offer more, premiership wise.

Geez keep Hetherington the f away from my club please. Absolute donut.
I disagree. I think he has done a couple of dumb things and is now targeted unfairly by refs and match review.
I like him as a playing and his effort especially in D.
I think if we bought him it would be healthy competition for the Safs and keeps them fighting for a spot.
If the young blokes can keep him in Cup that means they are going great.
Competition for spots is a great thing.

He is the closest thing to replacing Barnett that has been discussed so far.
Country boy too.

He is a backrower not a prop btw.

Jack Hetherington free to negotiate.
They just said on 360 Knights, Tigers and another team are interested.
I think he'd be a good pick up, has a dig, trys hard. Only downfall is he gets suspensions a fair bit.
He is a Newcastle boy, played his junior league for Valentine and his father Brett (ex-Raider & Cowboy) still resides here in Newy.

I am not sure we need bring in an undisciplined player who at only 26 has missed a lot of footy through suspension and injury. He really doesn’t offer us a point of difference, footwork at the line and ability to offload.

Why would we consider anyone to play middle forward when we have Klem, DSaf, JSaf, Croker, Thompson and are in need of a quality 6, 7, 11 & 12. Sure we have Clifford?, Clune??, Frizell for another season maybe, Fitz??
We don’t need to recruit in our strength areas just our weak ones. Even with Lee going we are strong enough 1-5 along with those coming through 13, 8. 10 are good, 9 is very good if injury doesn’t keep happening.

Yep game managing 7 is priority number 1.
Back rower is priority 2 - maybe even two backrowers
Another 6 is priority 3
Another middle priority 4

Pryces YouTube highlights are pretty crazy for an 18 year old who's played a dozen or so games. Acceleration, top-end speed, very silky hands. He is a class player. He could be good for us anywhere in the backline.

Well 2/5 of those are promising players but not guaranteed to even be solid first graders. We’re losing Barnett and probably Sauso Sue so it’s not really a bad thing to have a look at a player like Hetherington who can cover multiple positions in the forward pack.

Hetherington is god awful

For once we agree.

I swear people think that if a guy gets suspended a lot, he must be some “enforcer” type player and the sin bins/suspensions are just the trade off for a guy who will help win you the physical battle.

But sometimes guys get binned and suspended a lot AND they’re just kinda crap 😂

Hetherington is just the white James Gavet.

Country boy too.

I don’t care if he’s targeted “unfairly” or not. If a player has got themselves on every ref’s tip sheet than they’re radioactive in my eyes unless they’re good enough to balance that out. Jack is nowhere near meeting that threshold for mine.
