2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Even tigers have great signings.....us, absolutely jack.
There are a lot of sides improving with some good signings next year.. we don't seem like one of them, it's looking like dragons, titans or knights for the spoon imo unless Ponga stays injury free and has some kind of year.

Dolphins will be favourites for the spoon but I don't think they'll get it.

Neither will the knights if brailey doesn't go down again.
Completely forgot about them, you would have to hope your club can do better than a 100% new roster built from the ground up without a whole lot of talent.

They've managed to sign 20 players in the time we've signed none. That is despite us having heaps of space in the cap and having an average roster with holes all through it.

I don't understand 😂

Article says Young's manager will talk to the Knights on Friday.
Says the Knights have shown "loose interest" but have not talked dollars.
Also says 12 Knights are free to negotiate from yesterday and lists them as;
Young, Frizell, Klemmer, Kurt Mann, Bailey Hodgson, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Brodie Jones, Hymel Hunt, Enari Tuala, Chris Randall, Jack Johns, Adam Clune
Only young on that list would I drop $$ on. Most of the rest we need to replace with better, younger or cheaper.

If .... Young doesn't commit we all know there's a SMELL around the castle ..🤮

AND on BROOKS i think were 70/30 he's not coming in 2023..................................................IF ever.

The article about Dom Young's contract situation also mentions that O'Briens first appointment, Eric Smith, has suddenly left for "family reasons" and that we haven't replaced Knowles yet.

The joint screams of disorganisation. It’s falling apart from the top up. So many cracks in how the club runs various departments.

On signing news James Johnson despite wanting to stay on with the nsw cup squad has taken a q cup opportunity in Brisbane. One of Fleggs best last year.

Terrible news about Johnson, a robust, hard running centre who can tackle, may have gone on to be the most effective of the 3/4ers out of that Flegg side. Just not the most flamboyant.

Why shop Klem and Friz, both are off contract end 2023 and no one decent is available until 2024 and we won’t have either on our books unless we want them so the money will be available
My long maintained sentiment exactly.
We seem to be world beaters at getting rid of experienced players only to have absolutely no plan at all to replace them. There's certainly an ongoing pattern & it's not a good one!
P.s., our membership money came out overnight, here we go again...

If we’re stupid enough to get rid of our best players with no plan of replacing them then we deserve to be bottom feeders. It’s ridiculous how far this club has fallen in the last few years. I’ve already cancelled my membership as well. This season was one of the worst I’ve witnessed, and I sat through those three spoon years knowing that we’d come out the other side. I expect the next few years to be just the same. Shame really.

I’m hoping Peter parr coming onboard means we might have somewhat of a plan. Although currently it doesn’t look that way

An article I read was releasing Klem and Frizz would free up cap space to get Brooks. From all accounts he is coming 2024. But I hate to think what we are paying for him. All signs are not good, and most of the blame needs to be pointed at the coach in why we have gone backwards and now be in a hole. Any coach should have taken the side inherited from Brown to fringe finals.
