NRL General Recruitment and Retention

Totally, his comment that "we've been holding him back too long" is exactly what the majority on here were mocking about the whole thing, and going by the interview, it's only just occurred to Anasta.

Pretty much worked out for Pezet in spite of Anasta, rather than because of him. He also speaks about believing what the Storm told him about Hughes will be going to Queensland in 2026, next year we'll have Munster at fullback and there'll be a starting spot for Pezet ... he seems extremely naive just to take all this at face value. Then he also says Pezet is the highest IQ individual he's met in his life, which seems a rather odd comment. 🤣
Did he take it at face value, though? He signed for some security while returning from an ACL injury in a situation he actually wanted to be in (unlike what the Knights were offering) on a deal that allowed Pezet to re-enter free agency before the new deal had even kicked in if Hughes re-signed, which is exactly what happened. Wasn't a secret that he had a get-out clause either, everyone on here just conveniently ignored that part to carry on like he'd signed a lifetime deal with the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

He was always going to be at Melbourne in 2025 so nothing they did "held him back" for this year. Dumb Braith put his client in a position to re-enter free agency in a better negotiating position than he had been in the year before, and this time the premiers came calling instead of the wooden spooners.

I’m sure he’ll get linked elsewhere but Melbourne already have Fa'alogo. If it’s one thing Melbourne are never short on it’s fullbacks
Very true, but they like to create hysteria and clicks

They never let truth get in the way of a good story

Does anyone care as far as I’m concerned now Pezet is living on potential he had back as a 16 year old that he has yet to live up to, if he was this unstoppable world beating kangaroos halfback, he would have pitted out either Munster or Hughes.

I’m sorry but for the people talking about Pezet like he is the next coming of Joey is laughable, no one in the comp would have a future immortal just sitting around in reserve grade, Craig is a winning guy if he sees something that will help the team win he will do it instantly, in his mind Pezet couldn’t do it which is why reserve grade was where he was parked.

He is no Sharpe, Walker, Savala that forced their way into the team and made it impossible to drop, in fact they rushed a halfback back just to drop Pezet, as they believe Pezet couldn’t do it in the big games, they knew they needed Hughes

Honestly no one really knows how he will go but he has done zilch yet living off the hype he had in his juniors, I’ll wait and see but I doubt he will be this unstoppable international 7 he was made out to be

Pappy, Nelson and Pezet all gone from storm next year, conservatively $2 million free all were under contract.

Tino obviously will be back there, where does the other conservatively $750k land?

If they get Tino, Sua at FB, massive boost for them to push for the title again.

The NRL will strengthen rules to prevent club officials and player agents making public or private comments about the future of contracted players.

Sounds like a step in the right direction. Just not sure how they’ll be able to police it, but I’m happy they are looking to try to fix it

Would be interesting to see what position he plays. Probably #8, can’t see him being agile enough to be flanker and not enough lateral movement to be a centre but would be a good option for the first up hit.
