Adam O'Brien discussion

How long has Dsaf got on his contract? I could see Parr organising a swap deal for an explosive back/another formidable forward. Know Gould was after him and would take him in a heartbeat. Parr/AOB/Dobson won’t take losing a Hopwood/McEwen over his contract.

Same time it pisses me off we couldn’t get beat out of him and if he goes he plays how we wished he did. He spoke up in off season saying he & Jsaf wanted to play origin again. He can’t seriously believe he is anywhere near that form, or happy with it.

Really surprises me he hasn’t got the drive to be better. Maybe he just isn’t up to it.

On current form, likely to continue as same, DSaf is with us until contract expires, he won’t want to leave and very few if any would want him so thoughts of offloading him are wasted. He plays like he is happy to just cruise, gets paid the same for 30-40min quiet games or 40-50mins hard bruising efforts

I believe his contact ends 2026 and Jsaf was extended in the offseason through to 2027.

Your summation of the Dsaf situation is very good and I totally agree. I saw a turning point when he was appointed in 2022 as a co-captain and when that was taken from him there was a distinct change of attitude. There was a game just following that change and he turned back towards Ponga at fullback and gave him an almighty spray. Ponga was co-captain and it came across to me as a resentment action. His attitude has never been the same since.

There was talk last year of a player swap, with the Bulldogs keen on Dsaf. I believe where there is smoke there is fire and Parr may have leaked that information to ascertain a reaction. The club has 3 really good front row prospects coming through in Sua, Hopwood and Hilliar (and maybe Bryan) and will at some stage will have to exit Dsaf to retain those young players. I do not see either Saifiti here past the duration of their existing contracts.

If Dsaf goes elsewhere and plays to his potential that will be disappointing for us but we can’t control that situation. We can only make a contract judgement on his current form. We also can’t block the development pathway of our young prospects.

The Safs are slow starters every year.
Kade Snowden was a slow starter every year.
Matt Parsons was a slow starter every year.
Big guys can only get match fit by playing matches.

Look closer Lenny. If you have the knights number 1 cheerleader Toohey calling him out personally he's going like a busted arse.

In the four games he's made 85m, 105m, 79m, 63m with the classic saifiti errors and lazy ruck defence for good measure.
Strong might be a stretch but he hasn’t been bad. I don’t really care about stats, in the 2 live games I’ve watched his carries have been impactful and his contact in defence has been good.

He’s not playing to his potential but he’s also not a liability and there’s nobody playing well enough in Cup to take his spot.

No other club would put up with that. When you’ve heard for months, “best pre season ever” and “came back fitter than ever” and “guys are looking sharp” you certainly don’t expect that your “best forward” had amassed less meters in 4 games then Roger Tuivasa-Sheck did in one game against us.

That’s **** poor and absolutely not good enough.

I'm sure the Saffs are nice guys . I just don't think they have that drive in them to consistently deliver . Obviously would be leading a pretty comfortable life now . Sat beside the Chief at a wedding thirty years ago , he seemed a nice guy . But when he crossed the line 😳. Said before the season started if the Saffs wanted to leave a legacy the better start now . The way they are going by the time their contracts are up most people will be glad to see the end of them .

I thought you were deep in conversation with yourself until I reread the names 😂

Yeah I don't think DSaf is far away from being shipped off. It has been years now since he was at his best. It's sad because he was truly dominant at one point. He's not that elite prop anymore where you can spend that 800k type of money on.

JSaf I'd be happy to have as a bench prop.
I don’t think much will change with the Safs until there are changes to our salary cap where some of these young props in Cup/Flegg can get into our top 30 players list.
Then they will have competition and then it becomes a matter of survival.
We see little signs of good attack or defence from the Safs, but not enough consistent effort to keep them beyond their current contracts.

So who was it exactly that re-signed AOB after the run of wins last year? Now that normal Knights transmission has resumed, and the majoity are playing like the lazy, overpayed, not interested rabble we recognise under AOB's inspirational coaching, How soon do we have to wait for the replacement coaches talk? Great idea that to extend him. He really knows his stuff (sarcasm).
Can he just once go into the press conference and call them out for the crap they're producing. Enough of his sh##house excuses, no one believes you.

It Is almost regrettable to have had that 10 Game streak to be honest.
