Adam O'Brien discussion

DSaf has never been dropped from the top squad, despite obnoxiously dragging his feet for the last several years. I won't hold my breath.

Players like DSaf are good enough to operate on 60% effort and still be decent first graders, which makes them hard to drop. Plenty of players getting around in the NRL doing the same thing holding a mortgage on a spot in the 17

To be fair D Saf was decent the the first 3 weeks. Not great but solid. Last week was really disappointing though because we needed him to stand up with no Thompson and he was poor.

Not Nelson in Melbourne . I think Bellamy calls a spade a spade!

The twins have been here a long time. It's easy to get complacent with your surroundings and do enough to keep getting picked. Problem is we don't really have anyone nipping at heels so they feel it's ok to keep doing it. Produce some great games around origin time and the rest just stroll through.
Hard to argue with really, we need to find a damn good middle who's ready but behind a good forward pack already to keep the safs on thin ice. A leo Thompson clone if I must say......cough Tyrone cough.

It is. But there’s a bit of hyperbole in relation to his form. He’s been strong.
Strong in what way. Bloke couldn't run through a wet paper bag. His got 1 good run in him. Every other time he has no leg drive, falls on his front and can't even get a quick PTB. His agression in defence is woeful, comes up with nothing most times he "leads" the line. Big teddy bear.

While we’re on the subject of how **** the Safs are, I also think we need a good captain. Someone that not only leads the way and gives his all, but talks and drags the poor performers out of their slump. I’m pretty sure Joey, Bedsy or Chief wouldn’t have copped playing with a Jane dressed up like Tarzan.
Safs could be anything, I wish someone could help them if they can’t get themselves going

Imagine the Saffs playing with Joey 😳

We pretty much saw that with Josh Perry. Joey couldn't keep getting him up. Craig Smith was publicly challenging him. But he was pretty much going through the motions when he finished up here. The change to Manly fired him up again, and he won another premiership and represented nsw and Oz again. Always had it in him!!

The guy isn’t paid like a decent bench prop. He’s paid like an elite middle, just on that tier below Haas, Tapine, Fish etc. He’s paid to be Tom Flegler or Lindsay Collins, not Bunty Afoa.

Everyone always points to Ponga when they talk about cap issues in trying to upgrade the roster, but paying a guy who’s no worse than the third best player in the NRL a deal commensurate with that ability isn’t what hurts your ability to be competitive. It’s the guys on bloated $800K contracts who aren’t even worth half that which kill you.
