**** idris knights are being stupid now that offer imo is way over 4 idris he is so overated as it is and to compare him to joey is dragging johns down, idris is **** poor and i just cannot understand all of his hype

Sweet lord, let's not bother re-signing Gidley or DeGois, let's sign Jamal because of his appearance or Daniel Mortimer because he has pretty eyes, they are kidding if they are willing to spend 350K on Idris.

How legit is the website? Never heard of the place.

It's actually quite good. Alot of articles that don't get told elsewhere plus they've broken some of the biggest stories over the last few months. The guy who runs it seems to be well connected and the best thing is there's no rumours only the latest news.

The Knights want him because the media love him, it will help to endorse our name and also he is only 20 years old with heaps of potential. Sure he is overrated but he also has alot to prove.
Still... I have to say 350k is way to much for him. Positives outweigh the negatives imo (I just don't want to lose Sau, he has a big year ahead of him).

From a marketing perspective its a very astute signing.

1. Promising young player
2. Cult status due to the Haircut, similar to Willie mason
3. From the region

All three will help bring fans through the gate.

He might not be worth the 350k/season on the footy field. But to the club he'd be worth that due to the extra publicity he'd bring.

Only problem is, we have a salary cap, so a signing like this will have a major effect if he doesnt reach his potential. Also IF Tinkler takes over, we wont exactly be desperate for extra gate takings.

I'd be happy with 250k a season towards the SC. 50k deal to work with aboriginal kids like Inglis, and a deal with Ch9 as they seem to like him (dunno how much they are worth).

He has good potential for 3rd party sponsors, now how that works into minimising his impact on the cap is up to the club. Cause the Ch9 deal and all the other stuff he'd be able to get on his own, without 'help' from the knights.

Seems like Idris & Snowden are almost certain recruits for 2012 the more time goes on. It's good that we can get some big names, hopefully we can weed out a bit of deadwood in the cap for 2012 too!

indris is **** if he wasnt big with crazy hair he would still be playing nsw cup
I say beat dogs at their own game and target lawrence from the tigers and let the dogs keep that freak

where did my post go

I reckon we should hold out on the offer for Idris to see how Sau goes first. IMO, he has a big season ahead of him and is vying for a new contract. I like Idris, but 350k is massive overs for him.

Why would you sign a player for the publicity...for $350k cause thats what the Knights are offering to him right now?!

Okay, Idris has potential but I seriously dont think we need him at the club. And as for bringing fans through the gate..i dont see how many more he'd bring.

If Tinkler takes over we'll be getting plenty of publicity anyway given the big names he will start chasing.

To true

I think the best aspect to this purchase is that he is only 20.. He is only 20 & he has played origin. Show me another 20yr old from any where in the world with as greater impact on the field, this guy actually has potential

I dunno, ask the LA Galaxy why they signed David Beckham. Why the GC Suns signed Hunt, and GWS signed Folau. Half the major signings in the A-league are for publicity.

If Idris signed with the knights it would generate a lot of positive publicity for the club no matter which way you slice it. Idris is the type of guy you can put in front of the camera and he will win over supporters. As much as I love Gidley, Mullen, etc. they do not possess that personality. Idris would become a less quiet version of Uate.

You have to remember the average fan doesnt look at the dollar figure behind the player. They just want to see the players who the media tell them are the best. Idris is one of those players who the media have jumped all over because of his marketability. And imagine all the kids who will see Idris' hair and think "he's cool".

Based on potential he is worth 350k+ IMO. Atm I'd say he is worth 200-250k (which is what I hope we would be paying him under the cap). We dont need him in our current team. But MacDougall surely is retiring, Sau might be leaving, and LikiLiki is an unknown quantity at NRL at this point.

Personally I'd rather pay Idris 350k, then pay Snowden 400k+.

And remember, we have most likely signed Henry to a pretty decent contract based on potential. Theres more risk in that then there is in signing Idris IMO.

If they were smart, they could of waited to see what other clubs would offer him, then if they were that keen, could of thrown another 30k on top or something. Might of saved a 100 k.

^ I guess i just dont see it that way..because I dont think Idris generates that much publicity for a club.

And as for the 'cool dude' thing...I dont see it

But MacDougall surely is retiring, Sau might be leaving,

For the first statement, Macdougall will play it as his last season then start surging home strong at the end of the year in which he will then sign another one year deal.

As for the second statement, where does it even remotely hint or say anywhere in the media that Sa'u is leaving?

Within the next few weeks, we'll see Zero Tackle post up some bull**** piece about Sau leaving the Knights next season after seeing it on here.

Seeing as though your not twelve its probably a good thing that you don't see him like that...

Its no fantasy mate theres a good reason Idris is on the footy show every second week. Only now he will be representing the Knights rather than the Dogs

Not much talk of resigning him from the club, while we have been talking about DeGois and Gidley (the only other high profile players left off contract).

And the fact we are going after Idris.

Nothing concrete, hence why I said 'might'. Until he is signed on for 2012 there is always the chance he may be heading elsewhere.

Johns dragged himself down with the BC comments tbh

Read todays paper Kevin Moore has come out and 'warned' us about spending too much on one player.

He oughta talk.

The article also called the Bulldogs a 'family club'.

Bred not bought?

Hypocrite.

Article in Newcastle Herald from couple of days ago.

Jr's manager says he is in no rush, but they state quite rightly that he has a close relationship with Stephen Kearney, so it look like if he isn't a Knight in 2012 he will be playing for the Eels.

It's ashame, I think Sau is twice the player that Idris is, atleast he can defend. Idris is a myth, great for merchandising, but a myth on the field.
