I'd rather Mullen heal up than run around with bum shoulders. He is too young to risk it. Just look at what happen to Benjie.
what a nightmare of a round. thats our season over.

Gotta be joking, surely?!?!

I thought that was our old novelist friend for a minute but I think that was newcastleknights 1984 instead lol.
This ****ing sucks man, all these injuries make me sick to my guts![]()
Knights prop Cross set to miss upto six months with ruptured bicep
April 28, 2009
Newcastle prop Ben Cross is out for up to six months and halfback Jarrod Mullen could join him in a double blow to the Knights and New South Wales.
Cross has a ruptured bicep muscle which requires surgery and is out for four-six months, with the Knights hopeful the Blues front-rower can return if the club reaches the NRL finals.
Mullen, a prospective NSW halfback, will visit a specialist but may also be forced into surgery unless his injury is diagnosed as muscular.
It is a cruel blow to Mullen as he was in fine form heading into an Origin shootout with Brisbane's Peter Wallace at EnergyAustralia Stadium on Saturday.
"Ben will be gone for a substantial amount of time. Four to six months. Probably more than likely about five months," said coach Brian Smith.
"That would get him back hopefully before the end of the season. He has a bicep rupture and he is in for surgery shortly.
"Jarrod Mullen's injury we are not sure of. He is going to see a specialist tomorrow afternoon which will determine whether he needs an operation. Hopefully he has a muscle injury."
Mullen and Cross could yet be joined on the sidelines this Saturday with Wes Naiqama (hamstring) out for up to a fortnight, Junior Sau (sternum) under an injury cloud and Matt Hilder and Richie Fa'aoso unable to train until later in the week.
But in positive news Steve Simpson (hamstring) was named on Tuesday for a return while Scott Dureau will replace Mullen at halfback.
If Mullen is gone - so are we.
I am annoyed with the Cross injury but he can be covered... Mullen is the 2nd most important to our side, season over with him gone I would imagine.
Unless Rogers can turn into a Terry Campese.
Meanwhile, Luke Walsh carves up Gold Coast last night.
I just hope Scott doesn't read these forums because I'd hate to see him have a horror game.
There is WAY too much expectation's on him. Especially now...
tip is Mullo will miss 1-2 weeks, it isn't as bad as first thought.
and Mullo is definately our most important player.
Gids is actually stifling us atm - he is over-calling and over-playing. He should handle the ball half as often as he does - he is getting in the way and stalling the play.
Was it 1987?
Anyway, big difference haha.
Watch out Houston, watch out Fuss!
Nrl.comNewcastle halfback Jarrod Mullen remains hopeful of salvaging his NSW State of Origin prospects after he was cleared of serious damage to his shoulder by a specialist on Wednesday.
Mullen spent the first half of the day attending the NSW 40-man squad orientation camp in Sydney knowing his season could be ended at an appointment with his specialist later in the afternoon.
However, the 22-year-old received a significant boost when he was told his shoulder injury, which he dislocated early in the loss to the Wests Tigers on Sunday, would not require surgery.
It was initially feared Mullen would miss the rest of the year if he required a full shoulder reconstruction, or at least six weeks with an arthroscope.
News he only requires rehabilitation is a major boost to the Knights, who have lost prop Ben Cross (biceps) for at least five months already this week.
"It's feeling better every day so fingers crossed it's all good," said Mullen at the Blues camp.
"I will just do all my rehab and get it right."
Mullen played on with the injury against the Tigers after receiving several painkilling injections at the halftime interval.
While he has played through pain in the past, Mullen admits he is no chance at tackling Brisbane on Saturday in what would have been a NSW shootout against leading halfback contender Peter Wallace.
"It's still a bit unstable and I'd be pretty mad if I played this weekend," he said.
"We jabbed a couple of needles in there (against the Tigers) but to be honest it didn't really work, it still hurt.
"It is getting better every day and hopefully it will be alright."
