Perhaps we stick up for him because he uses logic in his reasoning. It's a concept known as logical reasoning.

I don't think its all of a sudden at all, we have done nothing for quite a few years now so i think that proves we have had a dud roster for a while .

I don't think anyone questions his ability, but there is simply no excuse for taking the team backwards this year (this "backwards to go forwards" thing is a load of crap). He has more at his disposal than Rick Stone did, and has produced less. He isn't God, i doubt any successful coach can go through a career without ever having a bad season, this is one his bad seasons. You try & coach every side you ever have coached & get them to a grand final. It just isn't going to work out every year.

He is getting rid of our crap players, do you honestly want to be stuck with Sa'u, Naiqama etc. when we can buy or bring up better players? We have a bunch of re-signed juniors & one of the best development coaches in Graham Murray & we've only signed 1 player for next year & looking at 2 other stalwart type players. Nothing like replacing the heart & soul of the team for a heap of high paid imports.

This is true, but do you think he isn't copping criticism or something? Pretty much everyone on this forum & the whole media are against him. Give the man some time, you do realize it has only been 4 or 5 months don't you?

What do you do when your players are crap? And please, don't make it out like he is trying to replace the whole side. He is getting rid of a few players that you can't deny have been crap this year for a few that we're looking at that won't even be expensive, Poore, Stagg etc.
 
I'm not denying that we can replace some of our underperforming players with better ones and we'd improve from this point in time what I'm saying is our squad isn't as bad as the position on the table would suggest!

Before the season started most people were talking up our chances and now we're not playing to the best of our ability as a team we've got an average roster.
 
A heap of our players have definitely gone down this season, i can't argue with that, but perhaps they just aren't Bennett structure players. The majority of our squad come from the times of when we were a flamboyant side that was crazy & threw the ball around. Like Wayne said, he wants the players to buy into his structure so it seems like they just aren't the players that should be in a Bennett side, they are Smith & Stone players.

Would you believe I was actually just thinking the same thing?

Either way we're not playing to our potential as a team atm and I still think Bennett has to take some responsibility for that...

You're all overthinking it. The Knights team, with their current roster, could turn it all around based on 2 simple words:

Effort and Focus.

Play harder and focus so as to stop making stupid decisions and errors. Lapse in our focus are killing us - dropped balls, kicks out on the full, poor reads in defence and poor defensive efforts.

Effort and Focus - all there is to it if you ask me.

I was being sarcastic. People saying we have a dud roster should remember we hammered the Dogs. The difference that day was they belted them from the start.

Well that's been one of our roster's major problems for a long time ... they show up for a game or two, but not consistently. That's why we haven't won four in a row for over over half a decade (probably the only club in the comp that hasn't done so in that time).
 
Maybe we should try hypnotism. When the team hears the crowd yell "Newcastle" they will smash the man carrying the ball.

Hes had a lot longer then 5 months? What time would have they started pre-season training last september or something? (no Idea) So hes had about 9 months which is hell of a lot of time to bond with players and get their in sync? If you dont think this is long enough look at Des Hasler at the dogs hes pulled it together beutifully and many players have improved under him already notabely Barba who is dominating Boyd in every facet

What? I'm talking about to do with football. They started very late November for 2 weeks when Bennett wasn't there doing fitness & a bit into December before Christmas break & on into January. It was all fitness, then they started basic football skills in the early few months & only would have had a month or so in the pre-season to organize set plays & game plans. So doing fitness, about 2 months, doing basic football skills, about 1 month, 1 month coming into the trials fixing up their game plans & getting ready for Rd 1 & 3 & a half months of genuine footy being played. So even if you wanted to include all the fitness stuff & basic football skills it still doesn't add up to 9 months! Maybe you should concentrate more on your maths.

And the difference between the Dogs & us is they have a better squad that has made many finals in the last few years & should have been minor premiers in 2009. They have the roster, the winning culture & their squad was just ready to be become a force, Des was the perfect coach for them.
