Update: Stig and Aliaomai contract situations

I've heard both Wests and Penrith are interested in him, could be the two other rival clubs, can't be sure as it's only a rumour though. Hopefully we get to see him stay here, Wayne could really work wonders with him IMO. Fair enough to him though if he wants to chase the money, he is only young, has got a family to support, if he can get great money elsewhere I wish him the best of luck although Newcastle supporters would be saddened to see him leave.

He has no real guarenteed starting spot next year, that must be hard for him. The offer we may have delivered first hand round might be next to nothing too. I for one would hate it knowing I could be at another club playing week in week out or just being on standby when all the players are fit.

What Stone did bringing Gidley back last week... well in my eyes it was disgusting. Not because we lost either because Gidley scored twice. But you moved a guy playing his best footy, for another guy who is then out of position.

That would tick anyone off.

Just cause he rejected the first offer doesn't mean he will leave. Would of been pretty terrible maybe second-tier contract.

Should be ahead of Burns at Penrith if that's true, with the Tigers he would have to play halfback.

Wes Naiqama all over again, I really hope he signs though.

I would rather we used the Buderus money to sign Stig up now. Have Gids as the hooker and form a nice partnership between Jarrod and Ryan. Roberts should play NSW Cup as back up. This way Buderus can come back at no charge as a coach in 2013. Everybody's happy!!!

I'm sort of thinking the same, use Buderus' potential salary + the transfer fee to sign re-sign Stig and to sign Watts, only if he can change his attitude though.

If that happened, it would take the cake as the worst signing by the knights ever. Knights fans would have a knights player to boo.

The knights need to man up and give stig a better offer. They should have already signed him by now, They should have signed him but before even worrying about Wes.

Stig driving plenty of NRL interest

YOUNG Newcastle playmaker Ryan Stig is in demand from a number of NRL clubs - but South Sydney denies it is one of them.

The Rabbitohs, who lose Chris Sandow to Parramatta next year, have been linked to the 21-year-old half-five eighth however CEO Shane Richardson denies the club has expressed any interest in the young gun.

“No, we’ve got a few up our sleeve and he’s not one of them,” Richardson told Sportsnewsfirst.com.au when asked whether they were pursuing him.

The Rabbitohs are set to replace Sandow with Adam Reynolds, a crafty halfback who represented the Rabbitohs in the 2010 Toyota Cup grand final.

Reynolds tore the ACL in his knee in the pre-season and was forced to have a knee reconstruction.

Insiders at the Rabbitohs told Sportsnewsfirst.com.au that Reynolds will be the likely first choice for next season under incoming coach Michael Maguire.
“The only half I have heard mentioned is Adam Reynolds,” the insider said.
“I haven’t heard anyone else being talked about.”

Having secured former Test winger Matt King for next season, CEO Richardson said the clubs has not yet finished with its recruitment.

“We’ve got a few up our sleeve,” he said when asked whether the club would be pursuing more signings for 2012.

With Stig not in the Rabbitohs plans, it remains uncertain where he will play next season.

Off contract at the end of the year and with the club having already secured another young half in Tyrone Roberts, Stig may have to leave the Knights in order to secure a starting spot.

A Newcastle junior, Stig left the club in 2010 to join the Cowboy however after he was unable to get a run, returned to the knights this year and has played five games in the top grade so far.

Stig's manager declined to comment on where his client is at with negotiations.

Well at present he has well and truely secured a starting spot over Roberts, so i dont know why there wrote that. The only thing that holding him out of a starting spot would be if WB is isilly enough to play GIdley in the halves fulltime.

Hopefully we can find the cash, he would be hot property right now.

Don't forget, we did release him at the end of 2009. He probably shouldn't feel any loyalty towards us.

^^ So in other words, a money chaser.

And an opportunity chaser. If the Buderus deal goes through, there is a 99.9% chance he'll be in NSW cup next year. Even as it stands now, he is no guarantee in 1st Grade with a new coach coming in. At best I think he will be coming off the bench in a full strengh 2012 squad.

To be honest it's a bit of a joke he got charged that heavily in the first place. Wasn't it 8 weeks?

I know refs need protection, but shouldn't it be from deliberate attempts of malice etc etc, not careless bumps?

Didn't he hit the Ref with a stiff arm . From memory it was pretty deliberate .

From my memory of the footage he got off a tackle and was called for a penalty for holding and when he ran back into the line he wasn't really looking and he must have only seen the ref at the last second. I mean if you catch someone in your eyeline at the last second you're going to react somehow...he just raised his shoulder a tiny bit, he wasn't gunning for the ref or trying to run into him deliberately.
