I legit think they are of the view that he's the right person for the job & they're looking at the injuries + thin squad as an out. If they were going to give him the chop based on performance, it would have been after the Titans or Eels game.It plays a part. Im certainly not making the argument that it is all that is required. Im not that naive. My argument is that it is largely what we are lacking. We currently hold a strong financial position, our infrastructure is substantial, our juniors are yielding turnover from years of investment, the signing of POS, other staff and the core of our roster are all very exciting.
What we are missing imo is an intolerance for failure. And we know this is true for the simple fact that the club is clearly prioritising the value liability of OBs contract over the negative cultural affects of keeping him in his position. That is my argument manifest.
If they sack OB some time in the near future Im happy to reconsider my perspective. But until they do, they're just proving me right.
If they're looking for a custodian for a rebuild and if POS actually thinks OB is that guy, then I could probably get my head around that. But that's as close to pure speculation as any of these other theoriesI legit think they are of the view that he's the right person for the job & they're looking at the injuries + thin squad as an out. I think POS holds a lot of sway too & I think he likes Adam (it's very unusual to see him in a coach's box and couldn't help but notice he and AOB shared a big hug after the win last night, after AOB had hugged Greeny) and he's telling them the issues at the moment are a failure of recruitment/retention prior to him arriving. We'd have to see things get worse first before he gets the knife.
Yeah there’s that too. They’ve just paid all this money for THE recruitment guy. Just dropped the biggest contract in NRL history on the half POS and AOB wanted to sign. They thought this would be the transition year to that new era. And then… oh **** do we need to sack the coach? If they're looking for a custodian for a rebuild and if POS actually thinks OB is that guy, then I could probably get my head around that. But that's as close to pure speculation as any of these other theories
POS surely isn't of the opinion that OB will assist his efforts in bringing new players to the club? Though it is plausible that the club is being tentative given how many moving parts are at play at this moment i.e. junior dev, Ponga, new signings and on field success. Its a fair hypothesis that they're just waiting another few weeks before they pull trigger on something they cannot undo. Which I understand. Don't agree with it but I can understand it
As long as Obi doesn’t foul up the natural talents of Brown(and I’m assuming others yet to arrive) with his bone headed “system” and let’s the guys play what’s in front of them.Think we have Obi until contract ends, am thinking that he will be given until then to show what the Brown recruitment brings rather than try someone else that was not involved.
The thinking if I’m right is probably the large spending of the Brown contract as well as the paying out of Obi to be replaced by someone and likely paid the same with no guarantees of success.
I am not happy with Obi, yes we have had serious injuries, and I was all for moving him on but having given it a bit of thought we will have him a bit longer.
Wishing and hoping only frustrates us, accepting the likelihood of what will likely be is better.
Sounds like now that Gardner stepping down, O’Sullivan isn’t going to be pushed around by Gardner or Mr Cannavo in keeping players that club isn’t happy with12/6
Says Fletcher Hunt is currently on 12k a year second tier deal and 3k for each NRL game and a train and trial payment. A new development deal for 85k could be announced as early as next week, with a top 30 contract in the future.
In other Fletcher news, if Sharpe fails to get fit for the Manly game, Hunt might shift to fullback with McCarthy to centre.
Will Cannavo was supposed to go onto a development deal next year, but was told he wasn't at that level, so he left the club.
Dom Young could be rushed into the side for the Dolphins game. Frizell, Best, Ponga and Gamble could all be back for the Dolphins game, but JSaf will need another week.
Is Blake and Will related?12/6
