Toohey's News

The report states that Knights players and managers are bracing to be tapped on the shoulder and given permission to look around for other clubs.

It also says that DSaf will be on $850 to 875K a year for the next 2 years, Brailey will be on $675K, Hastings $750K, PKK $775K, Hetherington $575K next year and Price is on $400K next year.

His form, lack of, has him on bench and he hasn’t looked like getting off it, he would be more unhappy with Cup spot but if not bothered he will likely stay as a one club player, see out his contract, done. He would have to want to go but my gut feeling he is here to stay, he is comfy
From what Barry Toohey has posted he isn’t happy. I still think he’s suffering from long covid or something …

DSaf has suffered an injury the last couple of years. Last year it was clear he was pretty hampered by his shoulder but he was forced to play due to injuries. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s all catching up with him.
I think the same with brailey at his best he was diving on lose balls if someone made a break he would be chasing all the little effort areas seem to be way down now and missing some easy tackles not sure if he is not fit enough or it's his confidence that is down but just doesn't seem right

No wonder we are a **** show and continually struggling.... who the fark did these contracts?

Hastings swap for Klemmer was the only one under Peter Parr's watch, the rest were some combination of Phil Gardner and Clint Zammit.

DSaf is signed for 2 more years, Brailey, Hastings, PKK, Hetherington and Pryce are signed for 1 more year.

KPP on $775k is insane. I thought he was on about $500k. No wonder Zammit was fired

I wonder how much they’re going to have to fork out to get rid of some of those contracts. Brailey might be a tough one given his injury history.
Yep O'Sullivan will truely be a magician if he can make some of them guys disappear without costing us much

I think the best option for DSaf would be for him to medically retire as he doesn’t appear to be fit enough to play at his best anymore. This would save him from moving his young family away from Newcastle.

You have to spend 95% of your cap or whatever, so you’re always going to have some deals that look a bit weird. Also if you front load too many contracts you can end up with a lot of money to spend and nobody to spend it on. I think that might be how a few of these happened.

That said I think the KPP and Pryce contracts were why Zammit got the boot.

The NRL will make us jump though hoops to get it done and probably end up denying it. They won’t just rubber stamp it like they would with the Chooks or Bunnies.

Yeah no chance of that happening . At the start of the yeah said he has never felt better & wanted his Origin spot back 🙄. I think the Knights would push for a medical retirement if they thought there was a chance . The guy is a liability . One of a few we have at the moment!

Be pretty surprised that Dsaf doesn’t have a degenerative knee injury. Seems to constantly have some issue around that area.
He and his brother got knocked around a bit early in their careers when we were building our spoon collection. Now it looks like DSaf is coasting as when he had a go, he seems to injure his knee and is out for a while. JSaf has overtaken him in all areas over the last couple of years.
We have to ask if he was playing like he is with another club on $800k plus, would we want him in our team?
