Crossland will get a 1 year deal - coach sees him as a utility.

Assistant coach role has interest from Flanagan, Ciraldo, McGregor and Pay. (I'd go Ciraldo if he were genuinely interested).

Randall played 70 minutes, made 51 tackles and scored a try with a broken thumb that needed surgery.
Did he say if Crossland would be too 30 or development?

If Musgrove is on $100k and there is that much left over in the cap this year, can the club just pay it to him this year and let him go from his top 30 spot for next?

Those assistant options all look reasonable, I thought even Pay did a reasonable job at the dogs with what he had and it was rough he got the boot. Wouldn't like some of them as a head coach but all experienced for an assistant.

Wonder why Ciraldo would consider moving, possibly sees more opportunity for AOB to be moved on at some point?

A few weeks ago an article said Danny Buderus was in charge of searching for a new assistant coach to replace Seibold.
Danny was a team mate of Ciraldo for 1 year at the Knights and has worked with him in the NSW coaching setup.
Ciraldo will be a firstgrade coach in time, but hard to see a pathway to that at Penrith right now.
We have also just signed Knowles who has been working with Ciraldo at Penrith.
I don't think it's out of the question that we could put together a deal to tempt Ciraldo, and his focus on being a defensive guru might be what we are after to replace Seibold.

Ciraldo makes sense, his one of the best defensive coaches around apparently and Penriths D has been outstanding.

Seibs was doing the D so would make sense

John Morris is the guy I would have wanted personally but we missed the window. His Sharks teams were soft through the middle defensively but they ran a lot of very nice set plays with the ball.

Do we really even know who the “attacking” coach is now? Is it Peters? Every time I hear the other coaches talked about they seem to have different roles…

I think I'd just about give up if we signed Mary ffs

I was thinking the same thing, it makes sense to me as he has not done much in the first grade games he played.

Why do we envision Crossland as a utility? Seems strange to me because he has the quality and attributes to be a decent first grade half. I rate him just as well if not better than Clune. Just needs to sharpen up a few deficiencies in defence.

Watching the Matty John's podcast which is a lot more intelligent now with Cronk and not Finch (who would have thought).
They talk about young halvse trying too hard to be good at everything. They reckon they should just pick 2 things they are good at and focus on mastering those 2 and the rest will come.
So Imo Crossland should just be focusing on mastering his kicking game and defence.

His defence is above average for a regular first grade half, let alone a kid with 20 games.

He's sort of taking the opposite path that a lot of young halves do, which is making lots of flashy plays but being a complete turnstile in defence
Brown getting him (and everyone else) to train and play at hooker would have helped him with D.

I'm very happy we are not letting him go.

Crossy has to keep playing halves, maybe it's his chance to say FU too the staff doubting him when reggie's can resume. I'd have him in my side over Clune. I'd give him a simple job each week and watch him nail it.

Hoping it’s Ciraldo, he is only 36 !! A few more yrs under his belt would do him good, especially once we get this performance centre built….not looking past obi
