*Knights close to announcing new deals for D.Saf and H.Hunt.
*Also hoping to extend Barnett before November 1.
*Tight salary cap won't allow for any significant boost to the roster in 2020.
*26 players signed for 2020 top 30 and of that 26, 14 are off contract at the end of 2020. These player will have to prove their worth to stay on in 2021. decisions will be up to Obi.
*Jamal Fogerty signing has been denied by the club.
*Centre and back row still the priority targets.

If we can't afford a big name, I don't know why second row is a priority.
If we could afford Fifita or TPJ, I'm sure they would be great signings, but we already have Barnett, Fitz and Sione who are young enough to have their best years in front of them as well as Jones and Fermor who are very close to firstgrade - not to mention Guerra.
Signing a mid range second row to go with our other 6 for the two positions we have to fill seems a waste of cap space.
A top class second row would be a different story, but apparently we can't afford one.

I saw an interview with Fifita this morning where he said he'd leave Brisbane, but he couldn't live in Sydney.
He said he could go to Saints for the beach lifestyle.
Ponga should get in his ear about the beach lifestyle available in Newcastle when they are in camp for the Junior kangaroos this week.

Agreed we could do with improvement in centre and second row but with little spare cap can we afford to buy someone better than current players if not then not worth it, wait for 2021.
Even if we offload Levi with no cost to us was/is he on enough to purchase the player(s) we need.

Second row and centre for 2020. It's where I'd be spending my money too.

Centre , 5/8 would be better spent - heaps vying for 2nd row spots that can hold their own.

Strike Centre would be ideal but Hunt may surprise and if Moga stays injury free with his stature anything can happen

We lack kicking options at the last either side of the ruck, a solid ball playing half as foil for Pearce.

We do need another half, but only if we know they're a straight up NRL player. Crossland & Sasagi are at long odds to jump straight in & be a success. Watson as a half puts way too much pressure on Pearce for the side to be a success. Lino is the perfect foil for Pearce, but his defence may eventually become too much of a liability I feel. Mann was solid for a while, but his defence forced him out of contention.

Vying, yes, but I have plenty of question marks. Guerra returning from injury, unproven kids, Sione not being very good.

Fitz and Barnett were first choice this year and Barnett won the big prize, but I see him as a edge/middle hybrid. Same with Guerra if he doesn't get his agility back after the bad injury. One injury and Sione could be starting, I'm on board with a coach who doesn't want that to happen.

As for 5/8th, they probably look at the balance of the cap and see 10+% tied up in Watson/Mann/Lino/Crossland and think we have to find something from that group.

This is a bit of assumption on my part but I think guys like sione, Barnett, fitzy, Mann, Levi, Guerra, etc are on 300-400k? I really would like to get rid of all these mid rangers and replace with a few rookies on 150k (Jones, fermor, jsaf, best, toa etc) and get some fringe origin guys on our books... Guys like crighton, matherson, etc (not them specifically bit i guess that quality of player) at around 600k...

I'm thinking about how much the roosters would be paying for guys like tetevano coming off the bench to what we are paying Guerra, Mann, sione, etc...

I'd also be looking at our wingers... When you compare to clubs like say the roosters, storm I think we actually stack up sort of ok in the middle and halves... I think both clubs have great attacking options in terms of someone to kick to (tupou, vunivalu) and a real speedster (ado Carr, ok Morris is probably getting on a bit). I feel like with SKD gone we really lack in the outside backs...

Just my opinion

With Tetevano's history he should be getting paid $14 an hour. How he cruises along under the radar when it comes to criticism of grubs playing our game is beyond me.

Actually happened with two different clubs, had his contract ripped up by the Knights for disciplinary reasons and then Manly for Domestic violence.
Probably just a nice way of saying it I guess

Good on him for turning his life around (it seems) but no way would he get away with that now and would probably be made an example out of like Barba was.

Guess that’s the perks of playing for the Roosters
