1 club men do have respect for the club they have always played for and love for that club a lot of the time . Joey and Matty although on good coin always played here for less than they could get almost anywhere else . Try telling me Chief couldn't have got more cash anywhere than what he was on at the Knights , Brisbane would have paid him a mill with tpa's even then lol
Lance Thompson offered to take a hefty pay decrease so Saints could sign a player they wanted but couldn't afford .
Plenty of players love and respect there club mate and I think its absurd that you don't think some players are like that . .
Maybe it was the club that said we will let you go but you have to wait until your mandatory 8 week holiday is over so we can sign someone else and take the heat out of the situation and save our arses .
Ive seen and read the interviews he loves the Dogs and to get an easy release and not have to do anything until his holiday time was up , it would have made no difference to him at all ..
 
You’re missing the whole point. If there was such a thing as said clause (no chance in the world) he wouldn’t of had to ask for a release in the first place let alone multiple times.
 
Not much in it this week.
Says Levi, Sione and Barnett have all lifted and are training at a new level - also says Jake Saifiti was training at a new level and had his weight under control before his injury.
Only other Knights news was that Sale Finau, the 20 year old winger from Melbourne, had impressed and is in line for a junior development contract, but also that he has injured himself in a wrestling drill and had had shoulder surgery.
 
Toohey also said the difference between the pre-season this year and last year is like chalk and cheese. Hopefully this will result in a better performance next season.

Mitch Barnett is an interesting one.
He has been in the recovery group the last two off seasons. Last year he was back in the team just before the last trial I think.
In a lot of ways, this is his first genuine off season.
Saulo is similar. He injured himself pretty early last off season, so he didn't get that much out of it.

What was Ayoub doing or not doing? Can't just be the cattle for mine.
 
probably since 2000 tbf. I remember we could only ever play 1 half of footy (Still the case now) including the GF

We actually played ok defense under Brian Smith considering the scraps we had. 2009 was good until Brian got sacked and the team didn't give a crap and had two 40+ games conceded, as well as one 30+. Up until then we only conceded two 30+ games. And one was in the Gold Coast heat in round 1 in the early timeslot before daylight savings.

The year we did well under Bennett in 2013 we were also pretty solid. Ignore that last game where Buderus was illegally knocked out by JWH's 'accidental' elbow.

Who knows what happened at the time. I'm talking about the switch from him to Stone (after the Eels game) and not initially when his signing with the Roosters was announced.
Maybe the club did tap him on the shoulder and say they wanted Stone for 2010 and to give him a head start, or he left voluntarily

Either way it's a shame
 
I honestly don't ever remember a time in my life thinking we were a better defensive unit than attacking, maybe the early years but since I've been following (1995) I can't think of a time.
 
The recruiting has been top class. We lucked out with guys like Pearce and Klemmer IMO but the signings of Ponga, Ese'ese, Ramien etc will turn out to be absolute masterstrokes (considering a lot of people were saying we were paying overs when we signed them). Hats off to Mooney/Brown
