Tinkler Pulls Out - NBN News reporting

The league needs a team in Newcastle.

Sure it does, but how is the NRL gonna stop the team going f*cked with all its financial debt. Even if the club somehow survives, we're just gonna be another Cronulla until the club evetually dies.

Me might have to merge, relocate or go defunct altogether! :fist:
Except for the $3m debt, our financial state isn't that bad. Don't forget the new stadium + our improved numbers in membership will help bring in the funds.

The NRL will step in if we get to that stage.

We've been in this debt for 20+ years...what makes you think that we'd fold anytime soon?

The NRL needs a team in Newcastle, we have just had a very expensive stadium upgrade and we turned a profit in 2009.

sorry no more bidders..

how many people worth 600 million are walking around wanting to buy knights ?

Nathan Tinkler is in the wrong here not the board. When Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes Court made their offer to takeover South Sydney it certainly didn't happen over night and there was many opportunities when the duo should have just thrown their hands up in the air and walked away during the frustratingly slow process. But they didn't they stuck with the Club and their members and showed true passion in resolving any minor/major hurdle which was thrown their way.

For Nathan Tinkler not to even turn up to the meeting with the board and just cancel the meeting and withdraw his offer clearly outlines his true nature. His individualistic actions over the past few week and his inability to work with the club has been confirmed by his impatient approach today.

If the Cronulla Sharks can get themselves out of financial trouble then im sure our club can do the same. Just remember it doesn't matter how rich the owner of a football club is they still have to obide by the same salary cap rules as every other club.

I say move on, move forward, Nathan Tinkler is not a team player.

P.S What he has done to the reputation of Kade Snowden alone is absolutely disgraceful. Kade will now resign with the Sharks after his name has been turned to mud through Nathan Tinkler's Fantasy Football agenda.

Tinkler has pulled out. I'm personally devastated , I feel I'm witnessing the death of the greatest football club in the world

I hear you. It is such a kerfuffle - I only hope the admin boys are loving all the controversy. Why don't they just quietly go away?

beggers cant be choosers...

so the knight board managed the club into debt yet... have stuffed up a deal...

Sorry Kade Snowden / cronulla is responsible for their own actions...

the club is in debt by poor management ! .... 1 club die hard city like knights you should not be in debt...they have virtual monopoly...

the board would be sacked if this was a private company...a virtual monopoly thats in debt how is that possible ?

Tinkler is not bidding against anyone else, he has the negotiating power...

Can't say I am disappointed, Yeah, it would've been nice to have all that money but at what cost. All the talk about throwing money at players like Snowden and Idris to play just doesn't sound like newcastle. Would we have won a premiership? yes, quiet possibly we could have but people would be only saying we bought it any way.

And for those who are sulking and saying the Knights will merge or fold, I recomend 2 teaspoons of cement blended nicely with titanium and Kurt Gidley's sweat and Harden the F*** up

Stop making a fool of yourself.

THis management came in with an existing debt.

A few weeks back when Tinkler's 2nd deal was offered, the club stated that is had two offers on the table. Tinklers offer, and another offer/scenerio.

Before you troll, get your facts right....chump.

The Knights Board are desperately struggling to wring out the last drips of their power.
Tinkler will get his way, but he wants wants some fan support, people power.

Let's support this bid all the way, otherwise, like all posters have been saying, the Knights will be the next Cronulla, with a team of charismatic has-been's and never-will-be's prancing around on a debt ridden nonsense.

Actually when Burraston first bought up the Tinkler offer he mentioned they were going through "a few" offers. I'd be interested in finding out who they were and what the offers were!

This.
Enough of the Newcastle is the new Cronulla talk, you're being dramatic.

Like all negotiators, Burraston would prefer to give the impression he was not the last girl at the dance

Tinkler may be sensitive but that's not the problem

Knights management should work in the best interests of the club. If that means pushing paperwork to get a deal through then that's what you fucckin do. You don't met tinkers impatients with reluctance because you personally don't like his attitude because that is not on the clubs interest

Heads need to roll ASAP

I agree, Tinkler is entirely entitled to his "impatience".

When you have a budget and a vision, the last thing you want is hand-wringing do-gooders who have "the best interests of the club" at heart.

Come On!! Burraston and the expendables should quietly leave.

1. Ok so the Cronulla Sharks are to blame for Nathan Tinkler offering one of their young players $1.6 Million at the last minute to under cut their original agreement. Not only did he not have the authority to make such an offer but no-one can blame Snowden for taking a step back to anaylse his latest offer. The only problem is that there is no offer! Tinkler doesn't own the Knights his fantasy football team will not become a reality which means Snowden will be left to sign with the Sharks. This has tarnised a young mans reputation by no fault of his own. Should Tinkler have waited to contact Snowden until he owned the club? Yes.

2. The club is in debt because of the board?.. Hmm that's debatable I think you will find their are significant financial factors contributing to the organizations limited financial success outside the administrators.

3. Virtual monopoly of Newcastle I agree, however if you look at the population of Newcastle compared to lets say Brisbane or Sydney then our little city doesn't look so financially appealing.
