Nsw side game two
Unfortunately there's no point complaining about last night, everyone thought they would do alot better then they did but these are the changes id be implementing to give us half a chance against a side who welcomes back cam smith in game two.
NSW ORIGIN SIDE GAME 2
1. JARED HAYNE
(deserves his opportunity to prove he's the best, needs to link up with kimmorley and get lyon and morris into the game early)
2. BRETT MORRIS
(played on the wrong wing in game 1, he's a right winger not left)
3. JOSH MORRIS
(devastating attacker, in much better form then tahu)
4. JAMIE LYON
(the guys a centre not 5/8, in the best form of his career let him play where he has been most effective)
5. JOEL MONAGHAN
(everyones saying Jamal Idris, they must have been watching another game then me, sure he is great in attack but defensively there are some very very serious concerns.. lockyer and thurston would be licking their lips if he got picked because he simply rushes up in defence and panics everytime.. we need someone more solid in defence but at the same time can beat folau in the air and work in well with lyon)
6. KURT GIDLEY (c)
(done enough in the last 15 mins to warrant selection in front of barrett, he is in better form then trent and he's leadership will be crucial when they run out at suncorp)
7. BRETT KIMMORLEY
(needs someone to help take the pressure off, had way too much responsibility on his kicking game in the opener. Ennis needs to do more kicking from dummy half and gidley and even hayne from fullback need to do there bit aswell).
8. BEN CROSS
(plain and simple we were beaten up front, put cross in there.. alongside thaiday he is by far the hardest running forward in the game)
9. MICHAEL ENNIS
(putting hayne to fullback will help Ennis greatly in getting the boys going forward look for the combination of Ennis, Kimmorley and Hayne up the middle in game 2)
10. MICHAEL WEYMAN
(tough competitor but needs to lift because theres a forward by the name of luke douglas who is knocking down the door for an origin call up in game three if he doesnt perform)
11. NATHAN HINDMARSH
(re-cap from game one was that we need to get tougher in defence.. hmm anyone know a player who can make 50 tackles in an origin game simliar to a dallas johnson?? ... Nathan has to be there its a no brainer!)
12. PAUL GALLEN
(you dont understand how much i hate Gallen but along with the selection of Cross, they have to give Paul another shot because these two players hold to key to winning the game up front with their aggression)
13. ANTHONY WATMOUGH
(great player, the wet conditions didn't suit him in game 1 but give him a dry track in brisbane and this kids deadly)
INTERCHANGE
14. TRENT WATERHOUSE
(waterhouse and creagh were the best players in game 1, no question)
15. BEN CREAGH
(read above)
16. TOM LEAROYD LAHRS/LUKE DOUGLAS
(cant split them.. Lahrs has had a few chances now and has been fairly underwhelming so im leaning towards blooding Douglas but i can understand holding him back until game three)
17. LUKE LEWIS
(Lewis is the ideal utility he can cover any position and his footwork is causing everyone alot of problems)
Dropped:
Tahu- the guys solid in defence but he just hasn't shown that he can keep pace with Josh Morris in attack and we need more points.
Cooper- picked Lyon in front of him, Jamie's in career best form and cooper just isnt quite there.
Perry- got dominated everytime he touched the ball
White- same as perry except worse, his runs were terrible and he's out of form because he simply hasnt played enough games this year.
Idris- again no question he's a devastaing ball runner but origin is won on defence and he would have to be the worst defensive player in game one.
...so very disappointing from NSW...sure the guys ran hard and hit hard but Qld attacked as a team and always seemed to have someone just a short offload away...we attacked like 13 individuals...when we did put a few passes together we looked quite good but they always had our measure and I think the scoreline flattered us...bugger it...
