Second Test: Australia v England @ Adelaide Oval

My whinge for the day:

* Ponting's captaincy..
* Clarke continuing to play not at 100%..
* North is still in the side..
* Currently our 2nd best batsman is a wicketkeeper..
* Watson cannot turn his 50's into 100's..
* Watson & Katich failing to sort out their problems "running between the wickets" which resulted in yet another run out.

This series is going to get very ugly im afraid.

Bar the toss, what has Pointing had to do in regards to captaining the side?

And whats wrong with the Wicketkeeper being the 2nd best inform batsman? he is a wicketkepper-batsman. Im sure there were plenty of times in Gilchrists career where he was the second best batter on form.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't think Clarke deserves the captaincy when Ponting goes. I believe he is being rather selfish by playing when he obviously isn't right and being genuinely out of form.

I would much rather see the captaincy go to someone like Watson, Katich or Haddin.

Sometimes it makes me wonder, these guys are getting paid hundreds of thousands a year, and yet still can not get the basics right. Running inbetween wickets was one of the first thing I learnt in U/10's. YES, NO, WAITING, infront of square the strikers call, behind square the non-strikers call. its not rocket science.

Surprise surprise what an outstanding innings from North . Clarke should just volunteer himself out of the team for atleast a while and noway in hell that whinging muppet should become captain after Ponting .

From experience , form, hardwork and dedication i'd give it to Hussey but Katich would do a fine job aswell

I would give it to Huss aswell, only issue would be age. He would only be a captain for a short amount of time before he retired.

Yeh but Australia needs a rebuilding phase hard and quick . Clarke can't even handle himself atm , let alone a team so it's better to let him off for a while and let Huss or Katich handle things .

To be honest I don't even think Clarke would make a good captain , he's gifted as a cricketer but not as a captain . He's certainly not hardworking like Waugh since he has barely ever had to work hard for things , always had things handed to him on a golden plate .

What annoyed me was him laughing and carrying on to Langer when Hussey and Haddin were out there working.

Not denying the talent but are you seriously telling me he's been good ever since the Lara Bingle incident?

He has only really played the two bad series(India,Pakistan).After dumping Bingle he scored a 100 against New Zealand. Clarke has been below par over the past 6 months but those calling for him to dropped are going way over the top.

That is quite laughable saying that the delivery's that got Ponting and Clarke were 'unplayable'. They we're both incorrectly played shots, maybe if Clarke got his feet moving a bit more it wouldn't of resulted in a wicket.

As I said before, Ponting and Clarke are both in major slumps, Ponting gets out far to cheaply way to much, so does Clarke. Ever since Ricky and Clarke put on that big partnership at Bellrieve against Pakistan where Ponting got 200 odd and Clarke followed up with that 150. The selectors have been right both of their ***, but when Hussey nails 195 when the team is under the pump after yet another fail of an innings by those two clowns, somehow Hussey Australia's BEST batsmen is still in contention of getting dropped. Today is a fine example of that, Ponting, Golden duck, Clarke, 2, Hussey 93, saved once again.

It could of been avoided with a more movement of their feet, Clarke was half trapped in his crease. If he had pushed foward with a front foward defensive shot he wouldn't of got out straight away.

Clarke wasn't really outsmarted though, it was a loose shot that could have been dealt with more appropriately.

So whose fault was the runout between Katich and Watson? I only saw it on tv with no sound ... it was pretty hilarious, I must say! No eye contact between the batsmen ... never a good thing.

How people can rate a 2020 over tests I will never know.

Just go in and have a slog. No tactics at all. I've read Shane Bond's book recently and he said they are soul-destroying for bowlers and he really couldn't care less about his record in that form of the game.

Honestly, try really watching a test match, for as much of the five days as possible, I can't see how you could not love the tactics, changes in momentum and ebbs and flows throughout.

The next best thing is a one dayer, they are also a good watch. 2020s just totally bore me as a spectator in comparison.
