I think yesterday was the first time I haven't been disappointed after a loss. Obviously the win would have been good but if it were last year or even 2015 we'd have lost that game by 30+. The boys competed right until the full-time siren but once again the errors that we continue to make while momentum is in our favour and when we're in crucial field position always seem to come back to bite us. If we fix up those errors we'd probably be 3-0 and that's not me being biased. You have to be proud of the boys and the way they've started the season though. 2 losses by only 4 and 6 points. We're definitely a new team and on the up and the improvement they've made is genuinely impressive.

Collectively the boys played well as a unit and contained a big Souths pack quite well. Not really a bad player as such out there yesterday, Stocky though just needs a bit of super glue. Barnett was again sensational and that tackle at the end is what you want to see from your players every week. Buhrer showed good attack and tackled anything and everything and Levi probably had his best game from us, he knew when to run the ball and when he did he got us into quality field position.

Onto Penrith next week and if we fix those errors we are definitely in with a chance.

When you think of how Souths have steamrolled us every single time we've played them since 2012, it really was a great performance. I was worried the floodgates would open when we lost Hodkinson for the final ten, but we ended up narrowing the scores!

Last year after most defeats I kicked the cat and took the kids pocket money off them. Yesterday's effort (effort not necessarily execution) was as good as a win for me. Bennett talked about teams coming to our ground expecting an easy arvo. Changed yesterday.

Thought I'd expect to see more negative comments after that game but good to see a lot of positive comments, which is losing by 6 points and not playing very well for a lot of the game.
We still might get pumped by the better teams like the broncos and sharks but looking more like there will be less of those this year.
The effort was definitely there, and if the slackers who Brown let go of last year were still here they'd probably have conceded another two tries in those last ten minutes.

Yep I was thinking earlier that teams coming to Newcastle, at least so far this year, know they will be in for a game, and also, know they've been in one.

And that is where we need to be at the moment, not unlike when we first entered the comp. In fact it pretty much is mirror image. We had players that generally were not as good as other teams, but they wanted to play there, they wanted to do well and represent the Knights fans. They might not win the game, but they would give the opposition team a hard time taking the points home.

Knights fans warm to that, and if we can continue to show up at home and give the fans something to cheer about, I expect the avg crowd at each game to slowly rise all year.

I don't understand how they figure Hunt's was worse than Burgess'...
I can understand that.
George was probably in the heat of the moment and he was probably provoked, if only verbally.
The other one was a dog shot on a guy who couldn't defend himself.

So a man that shoots and kills another person should get a lighter sentence if he had a brain explosion in the heat of the moment?

The game is all about protecting the head and that was a total dog shot leading with an elbow to the face.... Barnett should of king hit him when ross was holding him imo... even it up.

It's simple to understand. The NRL is secretly trying to bring back the biff

They know they fkd up by banning it. Viewership numbers show a declining supporter base especially with the hardcore supporters, people who buy memberships and go to games. And they regret allowing that politically correct leftist, Smith, to change the fabric of our game on a whim, and on the basis of a misunderstanding about the game itself

So now, they're not sinbinning people in the first few rounds even when they throw punches. And suspensions have been replaced by small fines

And so they don't want to be seen to punish fighting too harshly
