CC, love your confidence on this, I'm a bit worried that the panthers will be fired up and ready for a bit of payback after that round 1 embarassment they dished up to their fans.
I just hope Stig plays well and doesn't get stage fright calling some of the shots to the senior players.

Well i'll be damned. Newcastle weather being the old trickster she is haha. All week it pours down, Wednesday it floods, Thursday it still pours, suddenly becomes sunny but cold on Friday & on Saturday it is perfect. :D

Jeez the Herald & NRL.com got me confused today. In the updated NRL team lists it said Pat Mata'utia was on standby for James McManus, obviously a typo, then to add to it, in the paper this morning it had a massive pic of Pat Mata'utia in the front left corner saying "Knights v Panthers Rookie's Next Big Break". Obviously a picture error! I quickly turned to the match report thinking you're kidding, this wouldn't be true would it? Only to be relieved that Peter was playing. NRL.com & the Herald should be alot more professional than that! The name typo i guess can be excused because the Mata'utia's aren't well known just yet but the picture hahaha, makes it look like we're throwing in a rookie winger/fullback from SG Ball straight into FG over Pete!

Penrith going in with 3 hookers for the game. No doubt will be looking to tear us apart up the middle.

19,000 tickets sold for tonights game including memberships which has now passed 7000

To be honest that's probably the smartest way to beat us. It's our greatest weakness, ruck defense.

and scoring...

Scrappy win, but cant fault their effort too much with the injuries in the side. Stig is a natural, big future ahead of him

Gosh that was a terrible game all round. Penalties, kicking out on the full, error after error.

Anyway a wins a win. Stig was impressive on debut, Matuita was solid in his second game.

No one really played bad to be honest, was quite impressed with Stig, Wes, Uate, Gids and Costigan. Our foward rotation was solid aswell!

Uate?!

Conceeded like 3 penalties or something and a couple of errors if I recall correctly. He had a very scrappy game.

Thought Gidley played awesome tonight, he really does lift the team when hes on the field.

A much needed win. Besides that shocking kick for touch, Gidley was terrific at halfback easily the MOTM.

But why don't we try to get repeat sets more? I know there was some during the last 5 minutes, but during the rest of the game we seemed to be going for the knock-out punch. We need to build more pressure on the other team, that's how teams like the Dragons win.

Only just realised that!

I meant Gidley but I was thinking of Uate when I wrote it!

Is anyone else getting frustrated with our kick for touch this year . On several occasions we have failed to find touch .

How often is a try conceded once Hilder is taken off. We were clearly on top of the Tigers just before half time, Hilder is replaced and presto Tigers in. Game seemingly in control tonight , again Hilder rested and again a try. Very lazy team up the middle in defence.

I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt :P

It happens once every two games, which is a lot more than most other teams but to be honest we have much larger problems. The biggest one tonight was execution. Attacking structure looked okay against a terrible defence, but holding the ball...made my cringe every time.
