Sharks need to shed $353,000 before Friday to be cap complient.
Segyaro Likley to be out.
Would he even be on that much?

An absolute disgrace if Seg counts as the only player to get culled. Laughable if the NRL allows it. Considering they already needed to shed $300k odd when they signed him!!!!

Was reportedly signed on $120k, zero doubt the sharks new he would never play for them and is probably getting a fat little envelope for his time.

Matt Johns has a few jokes, but goes on to point out how good Pearce/Ponga combination can be if they stay fit.

If they do get a chance to gel for a decent run together, I expect we'll see them tear a side apart at some stage - fun we haven't had since Joey.
The day they go out and every pass sticks and every play works, we'll win by 60, against anyone.

Hopefully this happens on Friday Billy!

Laughable that the Sharks haven't been stripped off their premiereship for cheating yet. And are still over the cap LOL. That's what happens when a senior journalist is a Sharks fan and has a biased agenda

Anyway as always our number 7 is key. And hopefully he plays 20+ games this time around.

I can't freaking wait for the season to start.

Unless we lose, in which case, sack Brownie (sarcasm)

As much as I am disappointed by that news about Herman

I am rather pleased to hear this "“The goal for the Knights is to be in the top-five defensive sides this year, that’s our No.1 goal for the club,” revealed Knights CEO Philip Gardner."
Not that it means much coming from the CEO because he's not out there on the field making the tackles but at least the playing group has addressed the issue and have identified it as a key area to fix going into this season. Because it's going to have to be drastically improved if we are to be considered a top 8 team and close to a top 4 team.

Herman might have been distracted by his family matters during the trial as well, so starting in reggies might be a good wake up call for him. Either way, it’s nice to see we have some depth if any forwards are injured or don’t perform themselves.

Just echoing the other comments. Really should have picked Herman, rough to ignore a full season of excellent work because of one ordinary trial.
Sione 18th man if I were picking the team. And Ponga would still be at 1.

Yeah I don’t really understand it but I’m willing to give it shot.

If someone of Ese’s calibre is playing ressies then we’re going ok.

Someone has to miss out.
If I were picking the team it would be Hunt. Fully fit he wouldn't be as good an option as Sione. Half fit he certainly isn't.

Yeah it's nice preaching no one is safe, if you are poor you'll be dropped, keep everyone on their toes and whatever and all but perhaps it's more of a tactical thing.

Though I'm not sure tactically what is the reasoning behind having Sione in the team over Herman...
