Remember that random player?

Not sure if he’s been mentioned but a more recent one, Andrew Mccullough from the Broncos, came in early 2020 season I think after an injury issue in the 9 and ended up getting a season ender himself, but I thought he played very, very well for us in those games.

Him and Blake Green where definately ones that if we get 3-5 years earlier would have been awesome.

Enjoyed heighnos time here. Definitely cut from that old school forward mould. Tough as they come and probably what we needed at the time to help nurture some younger blokes. Much the same as Aiden guerra in what they did for us.
It never got to serious talks but they did ‘enquire’ about him back in 2008 but his asking price was too much. I’m sure that’s the kind of stuff that then leads to them signing Ciraldo at half price. Funny how he eventually went there anyway.

I have thought about how good we could have gone in 2018 and 2019 with a genuine 6 with a fit Pearce playing great footy, Ponga in his breakout years and a pretty stacked roster particularly in 19. Not saying we win anything but we’d of probably made the 8 both years.

Russell Packer - signed a 4-year deal in his prime as a current NZ Kiwis front-rower. Was meant to be our big signing of 2014 and then goes out and assaults a man, stomps on his head for good measure, before even arriving to the club.

Benny said we were out muscled in the 2013 prelim, went out and hand picked the big man he wanted and Packer did that. Start of the year (decade?) from hell.

Only consolation was his knees were shot weren’t they?

Imagine though that 2014 season just went to plan, and we won the comp. Bennetts time at the club looks completely different.

Tyler Randall(Sullivan). Played 40 odd games for us. Thought he was a tough hooker who did a decent job for us. Shame it was through the spoon years.

Mullen got injured early that year from memory, but some of the players from that team speaking afterwards with what they saw and the McKinnon injury, stuck with them for a long time. Understandable some just wanted a change to not be reminded of what they saw, sans Bennett's followers...amazed that they even won games, and won some good games towards the back end of the season, with players who had no business being in first grade and guys that had hung around that he bought with him from 2012.
Basically everything that could do wrong did go wrong then, starting with Packers off field incident.

We’ve certainly gone through a team of toilers the last 20 years.

Randall x2, Hilder to name a couple. None have been superstars, but they’ve done a job.

2008-2011 Houso was goated
Played prop in 2009 because of injuries and did a good job of it. Lightest prop in the NRL ever?

Really lucky to have a career after that though and Wicks taking the fall for whatever went down back then
