Recruitment And Retention Discussion

In all seriousness though, I think the game plan has to be to give volkman majority kicking and for brown to inject himself when he feels
All good when you have a seven. But we don’t have one! Unless you are putting Sharpe back to the wing and partner him up with Coggs or Gamble. Do we really want that?? Brown is just not going to magically transform into an organising 7.

O
Or he could make a decision one way or the other and end the speculation.
I have already said it. If we sign him on a 13mil ten year deal, I will be devastated. It’s plain dumb from POS and the club. Most experts are all saying Brown should be jumping at the contract. They are not saying how much this could screw the knights.

Or improve our rubbish kicking game

Absolutely no point complaining about Brown in this game. I'm looking at a 100+ playmaker who is 24 and has many, many better seasons ahead who is a major upgrade on talent available and currently available for the Knights.

I have no qualms with the potential signing. If we miss we miss but if we don't than we have a very talented young half who could work wonders on our right edge and connection with KP. Whilst also giving us security to build the talent in the club for years to come, instead of rushing them before they're ready.

He's not playing halfback today.

No way you can judge him on this game, the whole team is a joke. It even happened to Joey, he lost a few by 60. Nothing a half can do when the whole team's put the cue in the rack.
But even on the rare occasions that big scores were put on the Knights, Joey stood up, busted his gut and most importantly had a go.
I didn’t see Dylan Brown do any of that today.

Yeah look. If the reported numbers are true, I think we’re at the point where I can live with either outcome.

If Brown stays at Parra I’d be cool to just chuck $500K a season for 3 years at Toby Sexton and be done with it. Hold him until some kid comes through the system who demands to take the jersey off him. But POS seems committed to the big swing.

I haven't paid much attention to DB's long kicking game, but his short kicking game looks decent. I think between him, KP, Crossland (and eventually) Sharpe, we could manufacture a workable solution.

I'm not 100% sold on Brown it's a risk @ 13mil.
But what are the alternatives?
If we sign Brown we probably keep Ponga and have a real crack over the next few years, especially with Sharpe, Best & Lucas signed.

Hopefully the 5 year deal with mutual options for the next 5 is correct.

He doesn’t have a cannon for a boot. Probably marginally better than Cogger’s. Nicho Hynes probably a fair comparison.

He *has* had games with a lot of kick metres, eg when playing with Talagi who’s a borderline non-kicker, also Sanders who doesn’t have a huge boot. With Moses, Asi and now Volkman who have big boots, he takes a backseat. So the hope would be it’s purely tactical.
