Recruitment And Retention Discussion

He's not playing halfback today.

No way you can judge him on this game, the whole team is a joke. It even happened to Joey, he lost a few by 60. Nothing a half can do when the whole team's put the cue in the rack.
Absolutely. The way they all stood and watched the ball hit the deck for Nick Meaney, who isn't lighting to scoop and run the length, must be a huge concern for Ryles.

Be surprised if eels don’t pay him 1.3mil to leave.

This was an opportunity for him to step up and take control of this team with Moses gone, show his worth and he’s gone into his shell. Cogger would be cheering.

He’s not even trying to inject himself into the game through. He is nowhere. Volkmen has been way more involved. We don’t need a 5/8 we have fletch sharpe. We need a 7!

Melbourne has well and truly put the cue in the rack but it's not like the Eels have any gas or much interest in winning the 2nd half.

I’m of a different opinion as far as who runs things, 7 or 6. Yes the guy steering the ship is 7 generally but if nothing is working in a good team, one or the other steps up and takes control. Those numbers are interchangeable for Melbourne, Penrith or any team wanting to win.

Just would like to see him push the other guy aside and grab what’s left of this by the throat.

Yeah as much as I think the Knights would be much more competitive I don't think there's any whiteboard at the Knights Centre of Excellence with 2pts against the Storm pencilled in.

That last try in the 2nd half with the around the back the scrum was pure skill, speed, timing and coaching.

If you exclude touches of the ball which are just getting the ball to put up a kick, so far Brown has 32 and Volkman has 26. Hughes also has 32 (I can see he’s just come off the field though).

Not saying he’s taking the game by the scruff of the neck by any means and yeah he’s definitely just going through the motions a bit, but I don’t think we’re chasing him with a mind that he’ll be on the ball all the time and scrap for everything even when we’re losing by 30+.

It’s about adding a player who has an elite level of natural ability due to a belief that we’d be adding that to what is already a well-functioning & highly engaged team with a lot of non-spine talent. If you still don’t think it’s the right move on that count, fine, but I’d be surprised if the Knights want him because they think he’s a super intense effort merchant.

You realise we are supposedly offering 1.3 mill a season 😳

He was the one player absolutely sprinting down in defence when Hughes scored under the posts. Came up with air, but the effort was there to get back.
Ah well that’s easily worth over a million a year 🤣

I jest mate, it’s only round one against a team that wants revenge for a grand final loss. Tall order for any side

Just replying to those saying he's not putting in an effort or getting involved, etc.

Yeah agree with that slots. The weird thing about that is that Dylan *can* kick. Quite well. He just doesn’t a lot of the time. That is 100% my biggest reservation about him.
