PRE-SEASON CHALLENGE R2 - KNIGHTS V STORM - 1.45 Sat 24th - Churchill Park, Fiji

Cogger won the grand final, heard it all now.
If that was in response to my post you surely missed the point, but made a grandstanding statement for the attention.

If you were referring to someone who stated that Cogger won the grand final than I support your statement.

Brent Reed on MMM yesterday or the day before said Ponga has had gastro this week and has lost a few kg's
That's because he was jacked out of his fuxking mind all summer. A mate of mine spent time with him at the beach and said the bloke was carrying serious size and shape through his shoulders and arms. Said he looked about 100kgs.

Ponga losing a few kgs isn't a bad thing imo. Speed and agility are his alies. And it's not as if he's sub 90kgs, size isn't his issue, he's been playing at around 95kgs since about 21 years old.

Gamble played some lock early in the season and was nowhere near as effective in the middle, and other than that he's only ever played half. Cogger got thrown at hooker when there was no one else and didn't set the world alight there either. Neither are utilities.

I remember a few years ago starting the season with Brock Lamb in #14 because we wanted to fit everyone in rather than name a team that made sense. It didn't last long.

Long article in the Herald this morning - whole backpage and half a page inside.
It starts with Ponga talking up the potential of KPP.
O'Brien talks about round 1 selections and he seems to say he needs to see more of KPP and Pryce before picking them and his issue for round one is how ready Brailey will be and what to do with the halves.
The backpage headline is HE'S BIG; HE'S TALL; HE'S GOT IT ALL and a photo of KPP

But everyone appears to be forgetting that Mann is gone. Who is the better 14, Gamble or Cogger? Surely you can’t leave one of them out with an open 14 position, particularly with hooker and fullback being the most injury prone position in the Knights.
Has to be Cogger at 6, Gamble at 14. Gamble was at 6 when we won some games, Cogger came on the field at 6 when they were 18 points behind to win the GF.
Both need to be in the side and don’t see Cogger being as versatile as Gamble, therefore I see Gamble as our best genuine utility. The Kurt Gidley curse.
No. Cogger can play 7 in CUP until he earns his chance. There is NO need to put ALL the players in the 17. We bought for depth for a reason. Now we have depth everyone wants to just play EVERYONE! Strewth.

There is a strong chance the Roosters will get the 100k prize for winning the pre-season challenge after getting a big win over Souths in what was basically a Jersey Flegg trial yesterday, making a joke of the whole thing.
We will need to win and get two bonus points against Melbourne to top them.
In the original rules teams had to play a certain number of top 30 players, but the teams currently in the US are allowed to field anyone.

Yeah but Ponga will have a bigger x on his back after the back end of last year . Every team will want to take him out . Sat on the fence a few times during Covid . Said to my mate the kid must be made of rubber . Think that was the year he did his shoulder was getting absolutely smashed . As you say hope he has lost no speed & agility .But a bit more muscle protection won't go astray

Broadcast has started and they seem to be warming up as per usual, and still nothing announced by the NRL or either team. Maybe bad info from Brent Read.

Edit: Just announced it's only a 10 minute delay now, temperature dropped a bit.

He does look bigger in the upper body, and I don't believe it's the beer goggles either.

Harsh to have set restart after set restart blown against us in this heat, it will be a 50-40 scoreline if the ref makes this a super fast game.
