Billy
Danny 'Bedsy' Buderus
Momo has had an interesting journey.
Reading NZ articles about him, he comes from a sporting family and was a top athlete who played many sports in school, but didn't give league a try till his last year of school. He impressed so much he got an under 20s deal at Melbourne, but only played a handful of games for them.
Brownie brought him to the Knights when he came from his job of scout for Melbourne.
I watched him in his first year at the Knights and he was pretty raw to start with, but seemed to base his game on Pasami Saulo and was hard to pick from Pasami from the sideline by the end of the year. He improved massively in that year.
Next year he got a firstgrade pre season and the training staff said he was the strongest player at the club from his first gym session as a 19 year old.
Last year O'Brien decided to try him out as a second rower because of his obvious athletic ability, but reserves hardly got any games. This year he did his achilles in virtually our first training session and spent most of the season rehabing from that, but came back as a much better player than we've seen before - maybe because of the coaching to expand his game to play second row - maybe just because he finally has some experience at League - maybe just because he is a natural athlete and it's finally showing.
