I won’t them to go after Ilona Maher. She said she’s interested in playing NRLW

Thanks for the heads up Newygirl about marquee player, I had forgotten that.
But that marquee money must still be available.
Tell us more about Iiona Maher.
 
She’s a US rugby player. She won’t come cheap at all but it would be a big coup for the sport and bring a lot of attention to the women’s game so the money will be worth it.

Think she wants to play in the World Cup next year but I’d be going for her after that.

 
She’s playing in England in 15s so she’s got a better chance of making the US World Cup team.

She said she’s interested to try NRL after that. She may not even make the World Cup team, so she might be available sooner
 
We should be spending our marquee money on a 60 minute prop
Lilly White will never match Upton, but can do an adequate job..
We need a very good middle forward much more than we need anyone else.
 
How brisbane will use Upton will be interesting,
They didn't use her well last time, hardly letting her b a playmaker at all
She has become a very different player at the Knights, One of the top playmakers in the comp.
Scott Prince might see her as a Scott Prince like 5/8.

Oh they are legit. Much more to the story though. Would the issues the public know about really drive you away from a 5 year contract of which 3 were remaining. Highly doubt it.......
 
Don’t doubt homesickness etc definitely played a part but she’s hardly going to air all the details of her personal life to the public.

Players tell the media what they want them to hear and what’s going to make them look best.
 
Grandparents. Come on. What is she, Italian?

I don’t want to be mean but old people dying is normal. Literally the best you can hope for in life is dying when you’re old. I am convinced this is the first ever grandparent-related compassionate grounds release.
 
Read the Upton news today and yeah it **** weak.

You are a professional sports person, you know what you sign up for when you sign the contract. You should have thought about the age of your grandparents and signed for a cheaper deal with Broncs then.

Contracts really are just toilet roll now!

It's amateur hour from all involved, the league, the player and the Knights.

That’s what really annoys me, nobody forced her to sign the contract. You sign a five year deal as a marquee player then the club is making plans and building a side around you. Surely that means something … to somebody, anybody, involved in this?!

Anyway I need to move on so will try and bite my tongue on this topic for now lol. 🤐

Yeah I'm pretty annoyed at it also. It's BS oh I want to be back in QLD. It's Ben Hunt all over again, except she is actually good!

Personally what I think, is she doesn't like where the club is heading, doesn't think we are going to win another title, so she is out of here to somewhere she thinks will.
 
NQ Cowboys fullback Fran Goldthorp would be a good signing and I know Ben Jeffries rates her highly.
She is currently playing Union in England.
 
Sounds like it’s going to be Botille Vette-Welsh which is pretty uninspiring. She better not be getting the marquee position
