Yeah, I thought more along the lines of nobody wanted him here. That would be moe accurate.

That shot by Nelson, clenched fist, swinging arm and collected the head. If the NRL is serious about stamping out the concussion issues and the illegal shots in the game they should be suspending Nelson. They won't though.

They are too focussed on the crushers and shoulder charge which don't do damage in the vast majority of cases.

Unfortunately the NRL is a bit of a joke with the judiciary and what they focus on to "clean up the game".
 
Eliminating carryover points hasn’t attracted as much attention as PVL’s other last minute rule changes but it might be the stupidest yet. Are they serious about cracking down on high hits and other foul play or not? Because the point of carryover points is that repeat offenders cop worse punishments, just like how the real justice system works. Now the biggest grubs in the comp, your Mitchells, Hetheringtons, Hargreaveses and Pangais, are gonna feel even more comfortable trying to knock blokes’ heads off.
 
Anyway, Barnett is at the club till the end of next year. Fans can call for this sacking all they like, he’s not going anywhere. I think he’s a good player on a good day, hopefully he comes back eager to make it all up to his teammates and delivers a really strong back half of the year. I’m just sick of the bad days and I don’t trust him not to let us down at the worst possible time.

Maybe a bit of a generalisation to say "everyone" but there were a fair few members on here who were willing to let the past be the past and have Lodge on our books based on his ability.
 
You would be doing yourself no favours by not considering majority of players off contract. I don’t see the hype in lodge anyway.
 
I believe I was one of those saying he has done his time and the NRL are letting him play. I could see his value at the time he was one of the only Broncos standing up every week trying to make a differnece.

And at the time, we could have done with a bit more of that ourselves.

But since then we have solidified our resolve to be up for the contest, at least so far this year. So in the end I am glad we passed on him.

Robert Dillon argues that Barnett was rushing to cover defend, Smith veered to obstruct him, Barnett tried to fend him out of the way and missed with his hand, causing him to accidently follow through with the elbow to the jaw.

Says he has watched it repeatedly in slow motion and thinks it was an unfortunate accident and not a deliberate taking out of someone not involved in the play.

This would be a better public defence 20 years ago, but unfortunately for Dillon, everyone can go watch it repeatedly in slow motion these days.

You can see on the replay from behind that he clenches his right fist to brace the elbow as he raises it. That isn't the action of someone who is trying to push. It also doesn't make any sense that Smith would veer to obstruct Barnett when there is a try scoring opportunity outside him (and he clearly doesn't alter his line at all, though he does slow down so as to not be an obstruction).

The one thing I'll say in Mitch's favour is after watching it a bunch today, he doesn't strike out quite the way I thought he did watching it live. Regardless, he's going to cop a lengthy ban.
 
Aggression gone to far. but it’s something I have liked about Mitch since he wanted to go toe to toe with gallon we all have moment’s we want back take your medicine and move on is all he can do

I believe slots because he heard it, who cares if the proof of guilt isn’t there, Barnett is just an elbow raising, puppy kicking, racist grub in my eyes, tear his contract up now.

Now I’ve disappointed myself by returning to this subject 😞

That was a 12 weeker!

They don't hand them out that long these days I gotta say.

Although I'd tend to think the Newton one was more a case of terrible timing, not quite as deliberate and senseless as this one.
