I like Barnett, plays strong and hard, need more with his attitude, I also prefer him at 13 with Mann 14
I think he actually played his position last weekend at prop. With a quicker game and the role locks are playing today I think his future lies up front, and it will suit him to a tee. Still expecting him to start in the second row this season after we missed our signing target there.

The racial abuse accusation is always in the back of my mind and that’s not the sort of thing I want in a player at my club. If it was definitely proven true I’d want him gone, as it stands there’s always an uncomfortable feeling for me when he does something good in a game lol.
In terms of what he actually delivers on field, I think he’s gotten better under AOB. I think he’s actually pretty good on that left edge, fairly dangerous in attack and his line running improved as the year went on. Would be good for him to nail that spot down, I think his issues in defence have been about anticipation and decision-making more than mobility, and that should improve if he stays in one spot full time. This is the opposite of what I was saying at the start of last year but I do think he got better as the year went on.

I’m not so sure about that, particularly because when Mann gets the ball the play dies with him. He never passes the damn thing

Go watch the game last year against Manly and watch Barnette play a ball playing lock role.
He was very good at being a link man. Then for some reason they moved him to the backrow.

As far as a Ball playing Lock goes from what ive seen in the trials, Mann does it better .

I don’t see his future on the edge but I also don’t think AOB will steer away from Mann for sometime, if we have some injuries or during origin I’d like to see how he’d handle playing prop. With the way the game is moving I’d just like to see it out of curiosity.

Our best forward in my opinion. I like players with mongrel, and Barnett has it in spades. He has learned to control his aggression under AOB, but I don’t see ball playing as a strong point of his game. 13 is his best position. He plays a very similar role to Nathan Brown at Parra, run hard , tackle hard, get in their face, get em thinking twice about running in his 3rd of the field.
I definitely find it difficult to cheer for him after that as well, I gotta say.
