For an ex-footballer, Matthew Johns has enjoyed a lot of success. He's now widely known for his off-field pursuits, as a TV host on Channel 9's The Footy Show, a rugby league analyst, and playing the role of Reg Reagan and other colourful characters.

His footballing career was also a great one and allowed him a 'behind-the-scenes' view of many of the great names of the game. He's written about them in a new book, From the Sheds. It contains insightful and amusing assessments of players, coaches and legends, including his brother and teammate Andrew 'Joey' Johns, who many rate above all others.

I wish I knew this earlier.. bugger
tho Dave has got Gears of War 2 today and so he's already sulking about having to leave the house for the WC tonight.

Got his book signed I've read abot 40 pages he says the best try he ever saw was Jonathan Davies for the Cowboys against the Knights in 1994 anyone remember it?

Yeah, it wasn't so great haha. It was a big long run, but he didn't have too many players in front of him.

One day I'll get it on the site.

just had a glimpse through the book today..every chapter is on a different player. Not exactly the "autobiography" type but yeh..its pretty interesting.

It just mentions the players Johns is close to & just some others he think have potential in them... It's got a chapter on Danny Buderus in there
