Hopefully the observation goes well.
Usually they like to do another monitoring scan in 24-48 hour if all of his bloods/pressures are good, just to make sure it’s not getting worse. Kidneys are reasonably vascular, so if seriously damaged I think they would have already intervened.
6 week prognosis is very good. I imagine he will feel alright within the week or so. Obviously just can’t risk copping another hit to that region too soon. But I daresay he’d be back up and doing some things sooner than later, just no contact.
Does anyone know, did he definitely fail the HIA? Or did we just say he won’t be back. Not that it really matters, but his reaction to the incident is more suitable to suffering significant pain - kidney pain radiates along the back. Didn’t look like he was concussed at the time. But the laying down afterwards probably contributed to it - did they rule category 1?

He’ll miss 4 games if that’s the case. Two vs Raiders, Warriors and Storm.
Would have been pretty tough to even do an HIA with that injury, I’d have thought.

He was tackled legally from behind, and the impact area was right around his left kidney. I think he hit his head on the ground during the tackle, and when the trainers got to him he was probably hurting/winded/concussed so they took him off for HIA. AOB said in the presser that Sharpe was up and about after the game and seemed fine, but they’ve taken precautions with his abdominal pain and taken him for scans. I reckon they will have to get the all clear to travel, with the danger of internal bleeding at 30 000 ft a real risk factor.
It’s a tough game.
