Kalyn Ponga discussion

Another article from Andrew Webster (fox) about Roosters wanting Ponga in 2028. I try not to click these. It’s along the lines of Ponga wants to win a comp and if Newcastle cannot prove that in the two next years he might go.

The whole thing is stupid. I absorb to much content, so I am 99% sure the whole rumour stared in bloke in a bar (love the beak btw). Guru predicted the roosters will target ponga once teddy retires. This was said a couple years ago after ponga resigned and he admitted it was baseless, just of vibe of being such a roosters thing to do. Literally later that week bunch of news articles came out about rumors/whispers bs and hasn't stopped since.

I have no doubt roosters are interested, but that is certainly how it started and I am sure politis is actually keen, but this is all it is.

Also the whole going to roosters to win a comp thing? I think roosters are the biggest under achievers in the comp. At most they have made finals 1 week deeper than us in the last five years with double the value in rosters. If ponga is serious about winning a comp with I don't think roosters are the team. I can see Robinson being pushed out in a year or two, he is being found out

To be honest, I don't hate guru, and I doubt his intention was for this, and I could be wrong as well. Funny how things snowball.

But social media influencers are now the most legitimate source for unbiased sports media (in more cases than not imo).

Television productions/news outlets are loosing their monopoly and are now racing to the bottom to compete.

Jurnos imo saw the podcast, call roosters and ask if they would they be interested in signing ponga in a few years and went with it. No doubt Politis would be telling his mate to keep bringing up rumblings so the rumor doesn't go away

was going to say the same. I don't hate Guru, he is much better than the dribble from Crawly's mouth.

Guru sounds like he actually watches the games and puts thought into what he says with how teams play. Disregarding all the rumour talk of course
Paul Crawley seems to get wheeled out whenever they need someone to cover for the other 360 guys recovering from a bender, and sounds like the interns do his cliff notes for him

Mate, Crawley is tough to listen to. I try to see positives in anyone, but far out, his takes are so unpredictable. Didn't he do the Marry Fowler piece?
 
Guru’s not very consistent. In the same week he’s saying he’s not optimistic about the Knights or our future on one pod, but then saying we’re in an extremely good place with our juniors coming through in another.
 
These media blokes are constantly reading the tea leaves to try and come out with the scoops. Most of it is just their imagination and linking it up with their perception.

Not hard to see Teddy is going to retire, so then Roosters will need a FB, who could they target......Ponga. Story, Roosters interested in Ponga for 2028.

Meanwhile, Roosters no doubt already looking at who could be available to replace Teddy have already identified Ponga, and likely a few other options also.

Then, they go looking at interviews and words said by Ponga, check out his games, etc etc, and come out with Ponga unhappy at Knights.

All feeds in to their network of BS.

Would explain his no-show for Australia last year.

Personally I think it's ridiculous that Origin players can't decide to represent NZ, but can play for Samoa, Tonga, PNG, France, Cook Islands, Fiji, USA, etc etc etc!

As for him playing the Nines for Australia before, I don't know if that counts as a true international, but it was in 2019, in any other international sport I'd say he's completed his stand down period by now and should be able to switch if he wants.
