Probably old news but I heard Tahu to Charlestown (or whatever they call it these days)

Seen him at Tahs Reds game too, doubt that means anything though

Yeah it was mentioned a bit ago, according to good old Danny Weidler the Sharks & Panthers are basically the only ones after him.

Go back a couple of pages, alot of people think the same, it is hard for a centre to have a high work rate, especially if they are only playing one side of the field, and are working to a game plan. If you want lazy, look at G.I IMO, I think Jamals biggest flaws are his defence and ability to read the game, with the right coaching I think he could be a big deal.

Yeah it's hard for a center to get the hands on the ball. Generally I think in the modern game they should be carting it up a bit more in the middle of the field on the 40m-50m line where they don't need so much go forward and have a greater chance of exposing half gaps, as well as giving the forwards a rest (who should be running it up from their tryline to the 40m line).

Shaun Kenny-dowall is off contract end of this year. Would much prefer him over Idris. Leading try scorer last year with Uate and would make a great combination.

Yeah they play on the same side too, i couldn't imagine how many tries they'd score inbetween eachother. If only... But it does seem we're pretty set on Idris.

Let's sign neither of them and let Likiliki take MacDougalls spot.

Can't see why Panthers would want to sign Tahu either, they have Gordon and Tighe on the wings, and Jennings and Purtell in the centres, thought they did alright last year with them

Haha Purtell. Every Panthers fan Ive spoken too hate it whenever he is in the first grade side. And Tighe was kicked out from here for a reason ;) Good depth player, but not someone you would have in your starting side each week.
Anyway Tahu wouldnt be much of an upgrade but theres certainly worse

yeah lets pay overs for a incredible talented kid and never give him a start coz hes unkown... mmm good one!

Pay overs? How much did we pay for Likiliki Rick Stone?

And you're gonna pass up signing a talent like Idris because of Likiliki? Mmm good one!

LOL he's not even in the Top 25 haha.

I don't think anybody here knows the top 25, but he'll be training with FG.

Anyway that's besides the point. You don't NOT pursue Idris because of Likiliki. That's the point I'm making. Obviously Newcastle agree with me too since they've offered him a pretty lucrative deal.

I also think Idris is best suited for second row, which obviously wouldn't concern Likiliki at all.

Well actually i do know the 25, but anyway i'm not arguing with you, i'm all for getting Idris. I think he's a massive talent at 20 & can get way better. I really hope we do sign him!

What is it and how do you know?

Actually it's pretty simple, no inside information or anything, just that if you look at the Big League previews & season guide, each team has named a Top 25 players. And to back it up, a few days ago the Knights had a team photo with their top 25 players in it except Mad Dog because he was absent. But anyways the 25 is:

1. Ciraldo
2. Costigan
3. De Gois
4. Fa'aoso
5. Gidley
6. Henry
7. Hilder
8. Houston
9. Karawana
10. Kaufusi
11. Lulia
12. MacDougall
13. McDonnell
14. McManus
15. Mullen
16. W.Naiqama
17. Paterson
18. Rogers
19. Sa'u
20. Southern
21. Taia
22. Taufua
23. Tolar
24. Tuimavave
25. Uate

Players being outside of it but still in the full NRL squad are:

26. Edwards
27. Likiliki
28. Mata'utia
29. Mika
30. K.Naiqama
31. O'Donnell
32. Tetevano

So no there's not an official top 25.

Just a couple of things though...

- Mika had several FG appearances last season and Karawana had zero to memory. Mika is definately over Karawana.

- Wouldn't be surprised to see Likiliki get the nod over Lulia if either Sau or Doogs were out. Maybe not initially but as the season progressed. No doubt Likiliki will be training with FG so Stone should have a good grasp on how he's developing.

- Southern is a new recruit. Who knows where he is in the pecking order. Heard a rumour that Stone guaranteed O'Donnell so many FG games this year too. Not saying I believe it but never the less I wouldn't be surprised to see O'Donnell appear in more FG games then Southern. That's a stab in the dark but Southern is a fringe FG player and O'Donnell is someone they're obviously gonna invest a lot of time in developing and try to blood into FG.

- On the topic of backrowers, who knows where Ciraldo stands heading into the season.

You do realise the purpose of the top 25 is the players that count towards the salary cap? the others count towards the 2nd teir salary cap. Its got nothing to do with who the club thinks are the best players, or who has/will spend more time in first grade.
