Hi Everyone! (Introduce Yourself!)

Howdy fellas!

Thought I'd revive this thread with a post no one really cares to read. :P

My name's Ben, 26, from Sydney and been a Knights fan for as long as I can remember; though I can't really nail down when it all began. My guess is sometime around 97, ahh those were the glory years. I'm still a diehard fan and although my interest has waned over the years I'm genuinely excited about our future. I think we have a solid core of juniors who can bring this club back to its rightful place as one of the powerhouses of the league. I guess that's something we can thank Tinkler for...

I was a long time member of the other Knights forum (over on the dark side) but lost interest with that place due to all the bickering and snide remarks. On face value this place looks much more appreciative of each person's views, good or bad and discussions can take place without the need for ad hominem attacks. Anyway I'm excited to meet everyone here and hopefully found a place that I can call home!

Welcome bud. This is place is a family albeit a dysfunctional one but most the time awesome. Enjoy your time here!

Welcome aboard Benji, nice to have you here!

Nice of you to say that about the forum too, we have our ups and downs, but generally it's a great bunch. Steer clear of Matty23 though. :-/

Don't listen to him, Benji. I'm sure we'll be the best of pals. If you don't wish to become friends that's cool, however...

I think I need to reintroduce myself. :P

I've had a busy few years, now I'm a teacher. Will be teaching in inner-western Sydney starting term 1. Will try to get to a few away games, hopefully a few home games too.

Welcome back bigdan! Sounds like you've got some work ahead of yourself.

Hi im Donna, a mad one eyed knights fan living in Wollongong

I love everything Knights and annoy my friends cause of my obsession

Needed to find like minded people to chat too :dancing: so I went to Google and found this site

I love going to see the Knights play live and fingerscrossed they will come to Wollongong next year :)

Its great when they come to Wollongong as I can get closer to the players and I love to wave the boys off home

I watch most of the footy games each week and am not scared to offer my opinion

and I watch all Knights games of course

I am looking forward to 2009 Year of the Knights and getting to know you all better

Hi again,
now that Ive finally found the courage to post instead of just lurking, I thought I would reintroduce myself.
nothings changed still waiting for the Knights to come back to Wollongong haha

I said this sometime last year....
I think I need to reintroduce myself. :p

I guess it still applies?

Thought it might be nice to bring back the introduction thread, since there are some new members! And also we haven't gone to a new page since 2015 lol.

I'm James, I started this site in 2000, originally just for Knights photos, then the forum in 05, and then the forum eventually just became the site. Have had a few years off in recent times after typical forum disputes, but it's good to be back haha. I think all the admin left, so I also had no choice. :fist:

I originally started the forum here because the other Knights forums were very aggressive at the time, lots of people telling each other to bugger off and personal attacks between members etc, so I've always tried to keep things friendly while I've been involved here.

As for me, I'm 40 now :( ... live in Wellington, New Zealand ... have supported the Knights since I was 11 ... work for a govt dept, live in a house by myself, and am looking forward to getting over for a home game again one day! :D

Hi all, I'm Owey. My earliest rugby league memories were supporting the dragons as a young bloke in the early 80s, only because I shared the same name as a dual international who played for them back then. I am born and bred on newy and was so excited when the rumours started about us getting a team in the then Sydney comp. I took a year off supporting anyone in 1987 when my namesake joined manly and I couldn't follow them. I was saving myself for the knights.

I didn't go to the first premiership game against the eels, but listened intently as we beat the maggies in rd2 and was there for the next game against the tigers, watching the knights defend a small lead grimly as the likes of Elias, Roach and Sironen hammered our line. I've been a fan ever since, missing just a handful of home games.

Some of my favourite memories were watching the Johns boys toy with teams in the reggies at the start of 93. I was at the 97 and 01 gf as well.

These days, my daughter is as excitable a fan as I was in those early days and sharing this common interest with her is amazing. I truly believe the club has never been in a stronger position then we are now with wests behind us. Our top team has been a little underwhelming so far this year, but what is happening underneath will bear fruit shortly. I'm sure Obi is just the man to bring that success and I'm still enjoying the ride.

I’m Tomacles (pronounced like Themistocles without the ‘themisto’), and have followed Newcastle since 1996. Previous to that I followed the Raiders but then Super League reared it’s ugly head and Dad wouldn’t let anyone at home support anything to do with it.
So the Knights being my local team, became number 1. Since then I haven’t looked back and have been a member for the past decade or so.

The first Knights memory I have was I think in 97 and Darren Albert chased down (I think) Matt Sears in a semi-final. That cemented him as my favorite player to have donned the jersey. Then of course there are his GF heroics which still give me goosebumps as I’m sure it does many others here!
One of my worst Knights related memories was when (this is pre-Covid) at the home games they would start playing the Newcastle Chant over the PA system. Not just as a prompt for the other fans to join in, sort of as a replacement. That bugs me to this day!
Personally, I played footy from 5 til 18 then went to uni and gave it away.
I live in rural NSW, work in a hospital, own and run a small business and generally countdown until the next Knights game.

@Owey That's such an awesome history of support ... I wonder how many here have been fans since 1988?! I flew over to the 2002 grand final as a 21yo hoping the Knights would repeat it, but then Joey's injury killed my dreams, so that's the closest I've been to seeing us win one in the flesh.

@Tomacles Haha there used to a member on here called @Jekk who would be absolutely fuming whenever they put up the Newcastle chant over the loudspeaker 😂

I used to follow Souths back when boyd davidson and phil blake played. As soon as the Knights entered I swapped to them being my home town team.

Been on this rollercoaster ever since. Was at both 97 and 01 gf's and geez it would be good to get to another one.

88knightforlife im guessing has, member also most likely.

What happened to 88knightforlife?
