Fletcher Sharpe discussion

Another season might see Gagai easing a bit especially if Schiller adapts to first and is trialled at centre could see Gagai play wing mid to late season leaving Sharpe to cover f/b if Ponga unavailable, injury, SOO, and right wing if Gagai or Schiller go down giving us good cover and strength.
Still need to fix 7.

Biggest bright spot of a dreadful year of footy for mine. Was terrific again against the Sharks, I don’t think AOB is being cute with the Cam Munster comparisons. Has shown an ability to get involved in the game in big moments in unexpected ways, which is very much Munster’s special trait. Legit looks like he has the pace to replace a lot of Dom’s threat out in that wing too.

Do you see him as a 5/8 or FB in the future?

Cop out answer but I think he’s just a footy player. He’s killing it on the wing but I could imagine him going well at centre too. Playing 6 is harder so who knows but I’d definitely give him reps there over pre-season and see if he stands out over the other young fellas.

I think his low end outcome might be a quicker Nick Meaney or even a quicker Gags, like maybe he’s not quite talented enough to be a week to week spine player, but a more talented and complete player than most outside backs, so you can always put him in the side somewhere in the 2-5.

I suppose we can put the old discussion - "who is better, Fletcher Sharpe or Ethan Ferguson" to bed.
Both with unlimited natural talent.
Sharpe has made the most of his talent.
Fergo was playing for Northern Hawks and hardly training last I heard.

He’s been great, but let’s see how his second season goes. Never easy to back up a breakout year, and I don’t want to put him under too much pressure. He’s still learning and sides will be prepared for him in 2025!

Please???? Which uncle are you???? He can play, but by any reasonable measure, he may need more than half a season to gain enough points.
Chill out dude, it was an honest enough question. The obvious Rookie of the Year would be Galvin at the Tigers but he is ineligible due to a suspension earlier the season. I would have thought that 11 tries in 12 games would put him up there, some wise mentioned Iro at Cronulla who has played 20 games with 6 tries. Do you have any other suggestions?

P.S. I live 12,000 miles away from Newcastle and have never been to Cessnock so I reckon any lineage with the Sharpe family is unlikely.

I'll throw a cat among the pigeons!! Fletcher Sharpe would make a perfect half-back. Think on that one!!
