Ex-Knights Watch

Newcastle all blacks led by ex knights Will Smith, AJ Davis and Scott Briggs eventually got home in extra time against a side from Wellington led by Tyrone Peachy.
They have to line up for an 80 minute game against Latrell Mitchell's Walgett side in the Grandfinal later today.
Good thing it's unlimited interchange

AJ is having a great game so far, he was a wizard as a young fella when we played for wests, he’s still got the touch and the kicking game

I forgot to watch the final, but the Newcastle side won, so I assume the Koori Knockout will be in Newcastle next year.

Last time we hosted they had to hold it in Tuggerah on the Central Coast because there was no multi field facility suitable in Newcastle.

I'd say our new centre would be perfect.

From what I've seen they set up big tents to use as dressing sheds - just put them in the car park for the stadium and use the 5 fields for games.

Does Tuggerah have alot of accom? Is that why they had it out there last time?
No - zero accom, but a short walk from Tuggerah railway station, and about a kilometre from westfields Tuggerah, so plenty to do between games.
I actually went to Westfields Tuggerah when it was on and was wondering why the place seemed to be full of young people in colourful footy jerseys till I remembered it was on.

Sportsfield circled in Blue, Tuggerah station in red, Westfields Tuggerah in yellow. So basically, 100 metres from the train station car park, or there is good parking at the ground or at Westfields if you want to park there and get a feed or whatever.

Young leaving was unfortunate but not the clubs fault didn’t pass a test.

Kiraz is from that area

Fermor had a the son of the major sponsor in front of him

Meaney I dunno if he’s even looked that good

I'm pretty sure we wanted to keep fermor but he wanted to go back to Qld and we wanted to keep meaney asked him to try his hand at centre but he wanted to play fullback so he went to the dogs to play fullback

I can't remember the exact timeline with Fermor, but he got the 2018 Jersey Flegg player of the year and sometime in 2019 he did his ACL and spent a long time recovering.
I think when he went to the Titans he'd missed most of the previous season and was still in rehab for his knee and no one knew if he had lost his speed and step, so I don't think we would have offered him much to stay, if it had come down to that, because the story at the time was that he didn't even hold discussions with us - just got an offer from the Titans and went.
