Ex-Knights Watch

Ponga. That's all.
My comment was if Ponga moved to halves then Meaney is a excellent choice, not talking of Meaney replacing or better than Ponga.
Is it so very very hard to admit a prior Knight might be our best option or is it he’s gone let’s hate him no matter how well he is going elsewhere.
Justify your motive by not admitting to your poor selection

Ponga isn't ready for a halves spot even though he plays like a trad half. Time to tell him you play fullback and fullback only. Stop trying to put pixie dust on every play.

Sorry, pixie dust? my comment was IF Ponga moved to halves, it’s your comment that says he isn’t ready to
o play halve or doesnt want mine was IF HE does then Meaney is a good option.
Unfortunately reading, understanding aren’t a requirement for making an intelligent response to a basic comment by someone offering a reasonable comment.
Basically if we, Club, Coach, Ponga, decided that the Club, the Knights, would be better off with him playing 6 or 7 then we would most likely need a f/b, as has been previously suggested, then we would be looking for a f/b which is assumed easier than a 6 or 7, my suggestion was Meaney as a option, surely something to consider even if not likely due to commitments/contracts/price

Meaney looks ok at the Storm but when he had a free run at the dogs always struggled to hold down the fullback spot. I would rather the Knights target a player with a bit more upside at fullback like Farnworth, Crichton, Hammer etc.

Haha I understood completely, my argument is ponga is a fullback and needs to stay there. To me meaney is a stop gap like hoy. Not someone you give the 1 too long term. We need a half sure and our current off contract list is dire sure but what do we do.......we just continue being the knights, not approach anybody regardless of contract status because what's a contract nowadays and we continue being a bottom 4 team because of said issue.

I was a huge Meaney booster and I’ve been dirty on the club for trying the Ponga five-eighth switch *after* letting Meaney walk, and using Watson at fullback even though he stinks there.

But yeah his fill in games at fullback for Melbourne, they’ve had some dominant wins where they’ve been running downhill and he hasn’t been near as good as Hynes was for them let alone Paps.

I do think he did a good job on the wing for them and to me that’s his level - week to week winger, fullback fill in if needed. The white Alex Johnston.

I’m less bothered about losing him these days.

I know Hastings is wearing 13 but he’s playing more of a halfback role with the ball in hand than Madden is. They’re sort of playing with two five-eighths.

Not having a go at Jock, we should try to get him back. Check out some of his NSW Cup games for Wests, very skilled ball player who can throw some very very nice long passes both ways, but doesn’t overplay his hand with it.

I know he is at the end of his career and this may upset people. But I have been watching Tyrone Roberts closely as of late and he is playing some great footy. Even the games he played for broncos he added some great spark. And yes it’s risky but I believe he’d do a better job leading the team around the park then that cocky Clifford, could probably humble a few blokes in the squad to.
This has to be a joke....

Grant Anderson has a top 30 contract for '23 at the Storm.
He probably should have tried to go to a team where he is a chance to play fullback. He's a much better fullback than winger.

I don't think he would be playing fullback at any club, even as a backup...

I was looking to see if Dan Ticehurst has got a game in Qld Cup yet (he is replacement for the Tigers for the second week in a row) and had a quick look at Jonah Pezet's latest stats.
In his first 8 games he had 1 try assist and missed a lot of tackles.
In his 9th game they used him off the bench again, but he came on in the first half when his team was behind and in 47 minutes he got 2 try assists, 2 line break assists, 1 line break, kicked 4 goals, made 19 tackles with 0 missed and led his team to a win. He topped the fantasy points for both teams with 59.
I suppose he is too classy to not come good eventually.
Him and Dan Ticehurst would know each other from when Dan was in Flegg and Jonah was Scotty Dureau's offsider coaching Flegg.

So Hudson Young was a knights junior?
Hudson Young played in the same Knights Harold Mathews side that won an under 16s national title. The team also had Pasami Saulo, Brodie Jones, Tom Starling, Brayden Musgrove, Sam McIntyre and Heath Gibbs and Nick O'Meley from this year's reserve grade. Tex Hoy and Luke Huth also got runs in that side during the season, but were a year younger and didn't play in the finals.

He got caught using steroids and was banned for a couple of years when he was 16 or so, hard to blame the club for not wanting to keep him around

Hudson tested positive to a banned substance but was allowed to keep training with Matts, Ball etc while he served his two year ban, under the assumption he'd sign with the Knights once it was up.

My understanding was, the ban was winding down, the club found out he had his manager fielding offers from other clubs, got pissed at him, and put him out on his arse. So he took the offer from Canberra.

The way he tells it, his uncle gave him some over-the-counter thing to help him recover from an injury and he didn't know it had a banned substance in it. This is what they all say though of course.
