Ex-Knights Watch

This is an interesting article.
Says ex-Knights players Mark and Larry Tuafua are uncles of Payne Haas.
Says Larry Tuafua got a 12 week ban for punching a player in the lower Hunter second division.
The reason the tabloids are interested is because they guy he hit is related to right wing looney Ray Hadley.

Apparently Knights lower grade coaches Andrew Ryan and Mark O'Meley are both joining former Knights player Cameron Ciraldo on the coaching staff of the Bulldogs.
Some of Ryan's favourite players like Dylan Lucas, Harry Croker, Mitch Black and Dan Ticehurst might get a call.

Dylan Lucas is top 30 for Knights next year

Not officially - O'Brien and others have said he will be, but the NRL don't have him listed as having a contract.
Lucas, Harry Croker and Mitch Black all had a good year playing for South Newcastle under Ryan during covid.

Brock had a train and trial deal at Parra and some offers to play ESL and he decided he'd rather play for his junior club and do a trade. Maitland has only lost a handful of games since he's been there - mostly when he was injured.
If he wanted to do a pre season - sure - but I don't think he has any interest.

I said all along that King was a work horse we needed and better than most people seemed to think ... Look at him now i probably cant count how many people said he was rubbish or a reserve grader only and now the guy is playing for his country ...

He improved a fair bit in the last few seasons with us and has continued that improvement. Unfortunately something has to give to make way for the young guys coming through. It would have been better to have him on the books for this year instead of Sue but didn't work out that way.

So for us boys that don't know or watch Jersey Flegg, Reserves, tell us about this young crop of good players coming through? Maybe Billy is the one to answer this. I have read his posts so I should know. Haha

Wouldn't have made a difference to this side. Playing in the NRL can very much be about which team you are playing for, who can use you the most. At Melbourne he is another cog who is now benefiting from the exposure of playing in a good team. Here he would have been just a run of the mill player who would be on the verge of losing his spot to a young guy.

The sad thing about juniors is that you never know when they will peak.
Brodie Jones might have peaked at 16. He was the best young player in Australia at that time, but has only got a little bit bigger and not much stronger since.
Hudson Young was in the same side as Brodie Jones but was lucky to get a bench spot and didn't even get on the bench many games. He seems to be peaking now.
The point is, we have a lot of great prospects right now, and some of them will kick on, and some of them have peaked and won't get any better. Most of our prospects seem to be forwards right now. Of the 7 or so good ones, we should get 2 or 3 quality firstgraders at least.

Josh King never looked very talented and has got where he is by working harder than anyone else. If the Saifiti boys worked as hard as Josh King, we couldn't afford them.

Dead right there ...

In hindsight going by how much our team fell apart defensively this year it wouldn't of hurt to give him a small contract. He partnered really well with Klemmer and Safs and kept them hungry. Also not sure on the young guys coming through, we were really bare with lower grade players this year.
